Do all 240 suck in the snow or what? my s-14 and s-13 never get traction and once I am going I can't stop. Anyone have any ideas for stopping in the snow other than pumping the brakes or rear ending the guy in front of you.

As far as going in the snow RWD can be a bit tricky to get going, especially with an open dif. But as far as stopping goes. AWD or FWD offers no advantage in the breaking department. Do however make sure that you have tires with some tread. Possibly snow tires depending on where you live.
Just think of snow as an opportunity to practice your threshold breaking, technique.

don't get me wrong I can drive in the dry or the snow but I got in my friends (dare i say) 02 honda civic and at the end of my unplowed street and hit the brakes and unlike my 240s that slid through the intersection his (grrrr) honda actually stopped.

You just have to drive smart. Keep plenty of distance and always be aware. I think the 240 is horrible in the snow but ABS and LSD help me out. Anyway just take your time and she will treat you right

Funny - someone from another board who lives in the Great White North was saying that the fastest (not most controlled) way to stop is to lock them up. Curious?

Otherwise - yeah - no weight over the drive wheels, too much torque, etc. means the 240 isn't an all weather car w/o some good tires. I can tell you that bald summer tires keep the car from getting salt on it... unless the spreader truck passes your stuck/parked car.

You just have to drive careful......give some distance and cruise at a moderate speed. It's hard to do, but I have to drive 30mph when there was nothing but fresh snow and ice on the roads. Lucky LSD help me out whenever I felt like I was about to slip. I got stuck in the parking lot a couple of times, but now I know that to use next time it snows.....A SHOVEL.

This will be my third winter in a 240sx, with no ABS or LSD. You just need to learn how to handle it. The 240 is a torquey car, which doesn't bode well for controlled accelleration with questionable traction. Slow it down, use a light foot. In any car in the snow, the trick is to be smooth and gentle in all aspects of driving.
