i'm doing this myself, you have to buy new minutes every 90 days but you don't actually use them, so you can buy whatever the minimum is.
all new boost mobile phones are gps now, apparently. lowest price one is 40 bucks though. i might have to scour craigslist for a deal.
cheap phone

data cable (looks like it's just a mini usb like most motorola phones, you probably have one laying around from a camera or something)

car charger (again mini usb, probably have one laying around)

you could buy all new shit for a little over 50. i'mma check CL though. 240's are too easy to break into to not hood lojack them.
edit: they sell this phone at target for the same price. i have a mini usb car charger and data cable, so all i actually need is the phone... might pick it up today.

Still prefer LoJack over anything.
If your car isn't recovered, $5,000 in your pocket from them. Not to mention what your insurance company will give you if you have full coverage.

We use Sat Track now, GPS and web access rule. Had Lo Jack, lo jack is whack. You have no control, and they tried to get me to buy into some maintenance garbage program. I can go online and see where the car is at any time. Down to the street address. Put it on my wife's car as a personal safety measure moreso than anti theft. Sometimes she works late and has to go into a parking structure alone at nite. I think it was a grand.

LoJack is a ONE TIME FEE. No bullshit. I had it on my S14 so i know there is NO MONTHLY OR YEARLY FEE. PAY ONCE, done.
Not that it matters since most of you would rather shell out $1,000 on a set of wheels rather than some real security.
Get you facts straight before you post people, stop spreading wrong information.

Isnt Lojack better beacuse they work with the police departments and there is no threat of you getting killed or injured in the process of getting your car back.. soo thats a plus for me

there's no reason you couldn't give the police the gps coordinates or address from the boost lojack.

I believe lojack still works using triangulation with three equipted tracking vehicles. You need three points to ping the targets location. Not sure if they have changed their technology yet. In alot of cases, time is of the essence. And there is no guarantee that they will prioritize your stolen vehicle on a busy day at the station house.

Verizon wireless has a real-time tracking system for their phones...chaperone. Of course you need to have it on an existing line so $10 a month for the extra family share line + $10 a month for the chaperone service. It is basically for tracking your out of control daughters but can be easily adapted to track your car. You can set zones and get alerts in real time via txt/email if the phone leaves those zones plus it gives you real time location of said phone.
