So I pulled off the first two injectors just to check the size. Turns out they are Denso 550cc. I put them back in and the car ran like crap. Sounded like a Subby. So I pulled them off again and put new o-rings on them. Reinstalled them and now the car wont start. It turns over and cranks but nothing else happens. Where do I start looking. I made sure ever harness I unplugged was plugged back in and all vaccum lines are good. THis is a black top s14. Help, I need to get my car started.

Oh and before it started to crank over....when I turned the key the motor tried to turn over and it would make a loud clunk sound and stop. I'd try again and same thing. Just a clunk and nothing else. Wasnt until I let the car sit for a few minutes and tried cranking it again that it stopped making that clunk sound but it wont start. Just cranks and cranks but nothing.

are you getting spark... fuel... timing...

I dont know. Everything was fine before I pulled off the injectors. Reinstalled them and now this. Where should I start checking?

So how was the car running before you started doing all this. If anything recheck again any plugs that might be unplugged or anything else. Now if the car was already running like that then you might want to check what he ^^^ said.

pull spark plug wires one at a time and put them near the strut tower and have someone crank the car. they should spark to the body. that will make sure you're getting spark. pull the plugs, do they smell like gas? if so you're getting fuel. last thing to check it timing.

Check the injector wire plugs.... sometimes people pull them hard and ripe them from inside. You might not be able to see it but inside the loom they snap. Can be something simple as that. I dont know if this would be a problem but did you mix the 2 plugs on the injector? I know on my Z i did that and it made the car run wack.

Ok Im gonna check the plugs on the injectors and then for spark. Then last thing is I'll check the timing. I just dont see how all of this could have gone wrong from pulling out two injectors. Even after I reinstalled them, the car started up. Sounded like a Subby. Then I took them out again, replced the o-rings and reinstalled them....now it wont fire up. Ok I'll be right back.

Make sure the vaccum hose is plugged in on the FPR. Its gota be something stupid watch

ok so I found that the first two cylinders were flooded with fuel and the plugs were wet. I took them out and dried them. Check for spark and we had spark. Reinstalled everything and got the car fired up. Now it sounds like a Subby and is idling poorly. I did find that my cas was loose and my dumbass friend moved it. Does this mean my timing is off now?

check your coil packs.

sounds like one of them is getting grounded out. so check your CP and which ever one is really smelly (smells real bad)

You should have disconnected the battery when you pulled out the injectors... The resistors on the injectors could have gone bad, because if you do not disconnect the ground wire to the battery, you get a charge/surge...and you could have possibly fried the resistance to the injector itself.

Always disconnect your battery.
Injectors run on high impedience frequency.

FYI.

If your friend moved your CAS sensor...your car is either set back -/+ degree's.

is this a ka or sr?

This is an SR. How do I set the ignition timing back thru my CAS? I'll get timing light but then what? Isnt stock timing 15 degrees?? Which is the 2nd marking on the crank pulley??

well..To be exactly on the mark. Your going to need to pull your valve cover off to see where your timing is at right now. I'd suggest not to start the car.

Follow this.

Well I havent checked timing yet. The car fires up now. It just sounds like a subby at idle. What usually causes this?

MELLO*SOS

one or more of the cylinders isn't firing, that's why it sounds like subby.

It's usually:
1) coilpack(s) not firing = misfire = subby sound
2) injector(s) not squiring = misfire = subby sound
3) flooded from bad oring/leaking inj = misfire = subby sound
4) other things... but in your case I bet it's one of these 3!

Probably #2 since you were messing with the injectors, maybe one of the electrical connectors popped off or isn't making good contact. If they all seem good then it's a good chance it's #3, since you replaced the orings yourself, you may have damaged one on reinstall, and caused a leak and flooding that cylinder.

It's real easy to isolate which cylinder is bad. Let the car idle. Unplug each coilpack, one by one and only one at a time.. If the idle gets worse, then that plug/cylinder/injector was probably working just fine, plug the shit back in and move to the next one. If you unplug a coilpack and the idle speed/sound stays the exact same, that's the "dead" cylinder, investigate it further to find the problem... Check to make sure you have spark from the coilpack, a good spark plug, and fuel is getting squirted in there. If the plug is too wet with fuel from a leaky inj oring it can't fire the mixture. Same thing with fouled plugs..

PS reset your timing. Your friend messing around with the CAS just cost you 5 minutes of your time, make him buy you a beer!

did you use the same plugs that were soaking in fuel?

fouled plugs could cause misfiring aka "the subby sound."

Try reading your ECU, see if it throws any codes.

Any update by the way?

No updates yet. Thanks for the advise. Im gonna check each cylinder right now. I love this site and all you helpful peeps.

take out the fuel pump fuse(if u have one) crank it a couple of times...put fuse back on and start it...this happened to me when i replaced my distributor and played with timing, my plugs were wet too, however this was a ka.

hope this helps good luck

Had a bad o-ring and was flooding cylinder #1.
THen my retarted friend moved my CAS and threw my timing off. PUt timing back in spec and all is well now. Thanks to everyone for the help.
