So guys, what kind do you use? Looking for some ideas, can't really find a decent one for what I need. I want 0-xx ft/lb or 0-xxx in/lb, but its hard to find anything below 10 ft/lb.
Thanks

Jesus that Snap-On electronic one must be $$$$$$$.
I use a Harbor Freight that's been recalibrated, it's not bad. Even a shitty torque wrench with 10% accuracy isn't horrible for car-related stuff (a 150ft-lb flywheel bolt isn't going to fall off at 135ft-lbs, or break at 165ft-lbs).

You should try harbor freight because any amount of torque above 10 ft/lbs will break it lol.
I've used the above mentioned snap-on 1/2 torque wrench and It seemed well built but I could never see myself spending that kind of cash on one

Just get it replaced at Sears for free. They won't even ask what's wrong with it.
btw, I don't suppose that's your white hatch in East parking I saw all the time.

Snap on is good if you find it used or get it cheap (pawn shop) and still get use of warranty. Other wise craftsman works good wouldnt use harbor freight on engine assemblies. GL

I guess I can get it replaced too, thanks. I guess I need to look for my receipt.(?) No upgrade for me then.
East parking lot? Do I have a stalker? I don't know even know the name of the place where I park. If it had Z32 wheels then it was mine. I've only seen two other 240s around the campus.

Craftsman is just fine IMO, snap on if you can afford it.
The biggest thing is to just take care of it and don't loan it to anyone. If you can't see it then you don't know that it was taken care of.

Yeah i was going to say you guys w/ the snap-on tq wrenches must be ballers. Who can afford that shit? I've got acouple Harbor Freight TQ wrenches, and a Craftsman, nice thing about a Craftsman is if it breaks, they will replace it for free... and I somehow trust it more, but the Harbor Freight wrenches havent over-torqued anything to the point of breakage, and I'm reasonably sure they are accurate.

We only have snap on Torque Wrenches. I do not remember all of the ones we have. But here is a slight run down.
3 or 4 Inch Pound Wrenches
2- 1/4 drive ft lb
4+ 3/8 drive FT lbs
2 1/2 drive
and then we a 3/4 and 1 inch that are about 4-5feet long and go up to like 500+ ftlbs

Ditto, I've got a generic auto store 1/2" i use for wheels and suspension, and a HF 3/8" for more sensitive stuff. I'm afraid to use it on low torque engine bolts though, I usually just go by feel on those and use like a 1/4" ratchet so it's harder to overtorque them.

Keep in mind that the life time warranty on craftsman tools does not cover "clicker" torque wrenches.

We use snap on ones on our $46,000,000 aircraft, needless to say I trust them on my car. :bigok: And as for electronic tq wrenches, if I dont hear that "snap" I dont trust it.

I used a harbor - freight torque to torque a head and pulley this past weekend, and the fucker was sketchy at best... no longer do I trust a harbor freight anything.. ended up killing the pulley bolt. Piece of shit.

I've got a snapon at work, and a cheapo napa one too.
The snap on one has clearly been abused over the years, but its still pretty accurate. The napa one is a tank tho. Its been run over about 1000 times.

Well Matco sells non-digital torque wrenches for around 250 for people who aren't baller and since snap-on went all digital prices went up

the best time to get the craftsman torque wrenches are during Christmas. the cheaper ones for 80.00 goes for half off. The 3/8 measures from 20 in/lbs to 150 and the 1/2 measures from 25 ft/lbs to 250.. i think those are more than enough for the home user.. i know this because I've been working there for 3 years in the tools department..
And like they mentioned above torque wrenches are not part of the lifetime guarantee that they offer with hand tools, the old school ones that have the needles are though.
Also, Sears just started carrying the digital torque wrenches which look very similar to the snap on ones for $230-250.00. so if you dont want to spend the extra 100-200 for a snap on, its cheaper at sears..
I have a craftsman
this one to be exact:

The thing I notice about the craftsman and Harbor is one person will love theirs and others will hate them/have theirs fail on them. I'll probably end up going Matco or Snap on.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I found this through a search because I am in the market for a torque wrench. I was wondering if anyone could answer this question.
