This question is about the placement of an oil catch can in a KA24DE engine.

Would the catchcan go between the hose that connects the PCV Valve to the intake, or would the can go between the hose that connects the valve cover vent to the intake?

Or maybe it would be helpful to have two catch cans -- one in each location? What do you think? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hmmm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hmmm:'>

The PCV -> manifold one has a separator stock, at least the S13 version does... It's a rectangular bit that the PCV attaches to. But this vent seems to be the one most prone to sucking up oil under hard cornering anyway.

This is where I'd mount it, since that stock separator is just that.. stock.. designed for a non-performance application.

Thats true, the S14 has the stock separator too, but the vent at the top of the engine, at the valve cover, has no oil separator at all.

And from what my Chilton's manual tells me, at full throttle, more oil vapor will be exiting from the valve cover vent than through the PCV valve.

Nevertheless, you bring up a good point. When you make a hard corner, oil is going to rush to the PCV Valve. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/unhappy.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':unhappy:'>
So maybe two catchcans? damn confusion.... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/huh2.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':huh2:'>
