removing ball joint from upright HELP

so as the title states i can not get the ball joint free from the upright. how can i get this thing off?

If it's still on the car:

Replace the castle nut with a nut with a shoulder but don't tighten down and keep the socket there. Use a floor jack on the rotor to put upward pressure. Then use a BFH to pound the socket.

Are you going to reuse this ball joint?
If not, then get a ball joint fork or the BFH works also.
If you are going to reuse it, then use a ball joint separator. Just make sure you have a nut on it so you dont damage the threads.
