My driver side window had stop working for at least half a year now. Today, I finally started on fixing it. I bought the motor, regulator and the front rail/guide as I thought the regulator was bad. But turns out the wire from the motor got caught on the teeth and burnt the motor. The driver side motor I bought from a member here about 4 months ago turns out to be a passenger side unit. Now I have a few questions before I am going to do more work on it this weekend.

Can the driver side window switch went bad in a way where the power door lock, passenger side window switch and windows lock work but not the driver window switch?

Can the window amp work for passenger side window but not the driver side window?

Thanks in advance.

The window amplifier in the door only drives the driver side window. The amp for the passenger side is built in to the master switch.

Thanks for the quick replay.
So the amp will click even though it is bad? When I took apart the motor, it smelled really bad and everything was black.

pretty sure it clicks still if its bad. but as a possible quick fix you might want to just beat on the amp a little bit. i did that earlier out of anger and it miraculously worked and the window rolled down. im sure its going to go out again so its safe to just say replace it.

It had good days and bad days. One day it finally went and I took the amp apart after reading a amp fix article. It does not seem bad, but I am going to get another one to test it out.

Thanks!!!

It may click, it may not, depends on the damage done to it. The amp is basically just a pair of SPST relays on a single board in a case, nothing more.
