Painting The 280Z

alright, so the Datsun goes to my mom's bf next week to get the floors and frame rails re-done (i LOVE new england rot!), but after that, at some point i'm planning on getting it painted.

it will be painted a flat color, from the Hot Rod Flatz series of paint. I'm thinking of doing from the roof to the door line in red or green, and then the rest of the car black.

roof to the door line? so like the top area of the roof and hatch? if that is the case it's usually black on top and color on the rest and it will look hot.

Wow, that car's amazing! I was going to suggest doing the "hot rod black" on the roof, hatch and hood (to the door lines), then dumping the "burnt orange" on the bottom half... I've got a thing for orange z's.

but a bit different, and with different colors of course, i try not to bite styles.

and yeah, my 280's hump is hotter than yo momma's OH SNAP!

:edit: one of the parts guys here suggested i paint it like an old corvette stingray, with the stripe in the middle of the hood where the bump is.

red Z's are done to much, blue is nice, orange and olive drab would look good. im kinda partial to my Z, but have trying to match it. and these days of super cleanliness are gone...

very nice.. about 2 years ago me and robby looked at a 240z that this old man had... was blue with white interior all original and he gave me the phone number of his old ex wife who now owned the car and told me to ask her if i could buy it.. dam i wish i woulda offered more then i did was way too clean and didnt need much restoration.

it may be, but i think yours is a bit lighter and more silver (307). mine might be a somewhat custom mix, it has like a royal blue metalic with a silver top coat and like some gold metalic/pearl mixed in, its real wierd, depending on the lighting it can be like 6 different colors, but the oem paint code is 115, i forget whats on my placard. dude i bought it from had it repainted in 82 i think because it rusted out and he got it all fixed and rust proofed. and from what i found on the internet it seems to be the same color.
