Installing Headers? I alreadry got everything out. But I'm having difficulty inserting the new header in. I was thinking of removing steering linkage to give me more room. My question is how hard is it to remove the linkage? Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

What kind of header you got? Hotshot or something similar? I did the installation without removing the steering linkage. Ask a friend to help, someone hold it through the engine bay and the other under the car, it will make it so much easier. You will have to turn it and find the proper angle when you insert it down.

It's an MDR header. It looks verry similar with OBX. I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks

Okay!! I got the header in. It was easier than I thought. I just pushed the brake lines on the firewall to the right and the header slide right in place. My problem now is the EGR piping was way off. And there is no way that piping is going to to align on the dung. I've heard than I can just remove this pipe and cap it with brass cap or something. Can this be done without affecting the car's performance? or is this safe?

Again Thanks for all the help...

Yes it can be done that way. You can also loose the ERG bolt so that your pipe can move, make sure you haven't bolt the header to the head. You should be able to align it that way.

Almost done!!! I'll just remove the piping and cap the EGR inlet. I found a second problem. The second O2 located under the car is not the same size as the bung on the header and the wiring is to short. Can I remove this as well?

Note: the first O2 located on the engine fits fine..

Again Thanks

I had the same issue...The second 02 sensor is smaller than the first one but for some reason they design the headers with a different size. If you don't connect it, you will have a check engine light. You can find a "adapter"(in a hardware store or something like that) that will fit in the header hole with thread inside the size of you 02 sensor. That's what I had on my header. Here is a picture, not very clear but if you look closely, you will see the "adapter" I am taking about.

Okay I see it. I'll try to find one today. What about the wire being to short. Is it okay for me to just cut the wire and extend it closer to the bung?

Again thanks

Shouldn't be any problem extending the wires. I didn't have to do it with the Hotshot.

another option would be to take the sensor off and just use a resistor.

I think you got headers for the wrong year.

I have a s14 and I was installing a stock s13 header/downpipe. I noticed that the angle of egr pipe was off. Dont recall the position of the secondary o2 sensor as I just took it off.

I could not find any reducer so I end up removing the 2nd O2 sensor. So far no CEL yet. I may have to fabricate one tomorrow. I took the car for a spin and I'm very impress with the install. The car feels a lot quiker and stronger. I just wish I had a manual transmision instead of automatic. Now that I'm done with the headers what would you guys suggest on my next install?

Note: Thanks for all the help. The install was a lot easier with you guys help. Again Thank...
