in prep for the AZ event that was canceled, I really wanted a cage... But i also didn't have time to take out the dash, clean and paint the interior first, so I decided on making a harness bar instead. Thanks to andy @ racefab (http://www.racefab.com) for the help :)
It turned out quite well and is rock solid.

i like any build that includes hiem joints . . . check out the fabrication thread, this would fit in well there

correct, memory fab it is, good eye! the s68 aramid (what ever that is) - kevlar one.
It cost around 120 in materials alone + what ever his labor for making it will be... we can make a jig off of mine so it goes quicker if we have to make another one.

it fits pretty snug for me. I am 6'1" and about 180lbs. weighs about 11lbs, 13lbs for the non aramid one. Ill snap some pics for you as soon as i can.
door closes with no issues and i have no problems with hitting my head on the roof using the buddy club seat rails.

whats the point of the verticle bars?

better support for the bar. it now puts tension on the bottom points as well as the pillar points. i would assume its to keep it from ripping off of the pillar

thanks man!!!
correct.. they also serve to keep the bar from rotating at the two points on the pillar. in a hard impact the bar would want to rotate upwards, so those stop it.

no the pillars are a totally different shape. from what i remember i think my car had only lap belts in the rear. i could be wrong though, its been a while since i tore all that shit out

The mounting for the rear top is closer to the window, in between the window and the pillar, not on the cabin side.
Use the B pillar upper seat belt mounts, like the one Mazworx has.

lol, definitely overkill, mostly done because my seatbelts quit working, so i gutted the car lol.
didnt have time for a full cage before an event, and couldnt order one quick enough. as soon as we cage the car, this one will be for sale, as well as have a jig made of it in case we need to make another one.
hmmmmm good picture, ill see if we can find a hatch to test on ;)
