So anyways, last night, I was tuning my car, second gear pull 9psi on my s15 t28, and all the sudden really loud crackling and loss of power. My first though is o shit, I detonated, but I looked at my laptizzle and no knock, well no more than 3%. slowly get back on the gas to head back to my house, and just grinding like a mofo, and no boost. Turns out that I blew my turbo, and from what I can tell, its due to oil starvation, because when I installed the lines, I used nylon washers on either side becasue it was leaking like no tommorow. That apparently put the oil feed hole in the wrong place.:duh:
So no one is to blame but me. Just felt like I needed to get that off my chest. And maybe prevent some of you from making the same mistake,

That sucks.

It's the smallest thing that fucks up the big things a lot of the time.

blaastperformance.com

they have the best pricing on full turbo rebuilds/balancing. I've personally dealt with them and am very satisfied.

Rebuild is really outta the question seeing as this is my only car, and until I get a replacement, Im going to wedge the wastegate open and tune it for N/A. Cant really have any down time on this car, but thanks for the link anyways

I don't understand what you mean by 'put the oil feed in the wrong place'. Using a washer does not impede flow, unless the washer's too small (but nothing's going to be as small as the oil restrictor you should be running with a BB T28). You should ask yourself why they were leaking so much - wrong threads? And put them on either side of what?

Is this a KA-T?

No, basically, the rundown is, on thecircuit sport banjo fitting, it is skinnier than stock, therefore, the bolt wouldnt screw into the block enough to seal, I used thick washers on either side to fix that, hence no more leak. After I blew that shit up, I thought about it as I was falling asleep and came up with that idea. This morning, went outside, moved both nylon washers to the block side, It was sealed, and when I turned the car on, It was still grinding, but slowly the noise started to get quieter as the oil circulated, whereas last night, it was getting louder the longer the car ran. Still wont build boost though, infact, wont even make 0 vacuum

Dear jskateborders,

I was saddened to hear the news about the death of your turbo. Our thoughts are with you and your loved ones during this difficult time of loss.
I regret that I did not get the chance to ride in your car. It seemed to be quite a character.

I know that your great strength, family and friends will help you at this time of loss. I will call send you a PM in a few days to see if you need help with watching the children or with the memorial service.

Remember that "Those who live in the hearts of others never die."

Keeping you in my thoughts during this difficult time,

Andrew Bohan

Banjo bolts suck ass IMO. Too many locations that can leak.

Oh, banjo bolts. There's your problem lol.

Still using 1920's technology.

SS lines w/AN fittings FTW.
