i missed it:

ELK GROVE, CA -- Drivers lined Laguna Blvd. near Harbor Point Blvd. in Elk Grove Monday afternoon, to take advantage of a Shell gas station clerk's faulty fingerwork. Instead of typing in $4.63 for the station's premium gas, he typed in 46 cents.

The gas station manager said the blunder was punched in around 1:30 p.m. and lasted until about 5 p.m. By late afternoon, the Shell station management had called Elk Grove Police for crowd control.

When drivers learned of the cheap gas mistake, many text messaged and called family and friends, adding to the traffic jam.

Tiwa Abogunrin was the next in line when the pumps were switched back to $4.63.

"Everyone was pretty nice to each other. I guess they were just happy the gas was less than a dollar, but I missed it," Abogunrin said.

Some drivers filled their tanks for about $7. SUV drivers spent about $11 to fill up.

Jan Acosta was one of the lucky ones who got there in time to take advantage.

"My friend called me and said, 'Dude! You better come here and take advantage, because gas is 46 cents a gallon.' So I came up here because it sounded too good to be true," Acosta said.

By 5:30 p.m. everything was back to normal, and most drivers filling up there had no idea what they had missed.

Yeah, other countries put a higher *TAX* on it. I heard somewhere that in Saudi Arabia, gas is 15cents/gallon (i dunno how true that is)

Regardless, the price of gas is sky high, and its driving up the price of everything, our Govt needs to start firing up our domestic oil industry and try to get some price regulation on foregin oil, or just stop buying it.

NO IT"S NOT

GODAMNIT

The other countries have 75% percent tax, so if it's 9 bucks there it's actually only 3 bucks per gallon if it were here because of their stupid tax.

this is a bullshit excuse.

we're completely getting fucked, don't fall for that argument.

If the Europeans complain then maybe they shouldnt elect socialsts who raise the gas tax up to insane 75% levels.

It doesn't matter that its a tax... In Germany my buddies are paying like the equivalent of 8.50 a gallon. Are you saying they aren't? haha

I'm happy as long as it doesn't get to that point. The whole gas price thing is way out of proportion. Gas is still cheaper here, doesn't matter that its a tax over there, the statement still stands true. The price paid at the pump is cheaper in the US than mainland Europe. The price of actual "gas" doesn't matter... do you buy bulk from Exxon/Mobile? Didn't think so.

Geez that's pretty gangstur.

Yeah I would've stood there with a shotty protecting my pump.

While I call all my family and friends.

You're dead on. However, it's still money out of the pocket of the consumer in any case. :-/

i think he mentioned that gas is more or less the same everywhere. the difference between what you pay in the US and Europe, is due to difference is taxes. Yeah, everyone taxes, but in europe you get screwed over a little more than the US. maybe they have their reasons, idk.

Can't speak for the rest of the US but out here in socal, it's almost impossible not drive, and not to drive a lot. From where I live and work, its totally impractical not to drive. Most places in Europe have really good mass transit. I've yet to visit a city where I needed to use a taxi or rent a car. I think its safe to say most Europeans don't drive as much as ppl in the US. My guess would be that our overall fuel expenses in the socal would be a lot, lot higher than most European countries. (even with higher euro taxes taken into consideration)
