Hi guys, i'm rebuilding my KA24DE and I would like to know what I have to do if I don't want anymore that valve clicking sound under the hood. It seems like my car make more noise than the other stock KA24DE.

The engine has 286 000km but it has 100 000km since the rebuilt. (190psi on all 4 cylinders) I'm putting a brand new oem timing chain but I want to take a look furthermore into that ugly sound. I just want my engine quieter!

What do you suggest ? I heard the valves can't be adjusted...

It is not valve noise that you hear, it is timing chain noise. KA's are notorious for timing chain noise. The valves can be adjusted, but you have to buy shims from the dealer and remove the cams to do so.

yeah ka24de have shim over bucket.... pain in the ass to adjust. you also need a lash kit.. to gauge what size shim u need...if the tensioner is pretty good.. then i suggest getting that lucas oil, oil stabalizer... it worked for me so far...

The rattle is not comming from the timing chain, the sound is over 2000rpm to the cut off...
Lucas oil + oil stabalizer can help the noise you think...I don't feel like putting that stuff into my engine.

might want to rethink the lucas oil additives and suggesting it to others... :ugh:

up to you to decide, take it with a grain of salt. the forums full of good info. in the end, it's your motor, if you want to put a bandaid on the problem then thats your choice.
