SteveShadows absolutely hates it because only hks pro dealers have access to the software so only those dealers can tune it. I had it on my s14 and it was awesome. I got another one for my s13 as well. Finding a good tuner is of the utmost importance. I got mine tuned at hks usa.

very true! if ur in an area that doesn't have a local tuner with access to vpro software ur kinda fucked, whereas with a power fc or haltech pretty much anyone can have access to the software.
ps: just go get a power fc and then just pm steveshadows to tune it. it'll save you alot of time and headache and it'll get done right the 1st time.

Well, HKS USA is in So Cal so they are local. No doubt Steve can tune. But there are hundreds of other so called "tuners" that are better versed at blowing up motors. If HKS can't tune the VPro, no one can!

BTW My tune cost $600 through HKS so the pricing is not that bad.

If $600 for a tune is 'not bad', you need to step up to competitive racing or something lol. Sure it's by HKS and all that... but shit Norm?!? Baller~

In Japan the F-con is seen as pretty great, and the pricing on the unit itself isn't bad at all. Here, it's all about being local to someone with the software (similar to the PowerFC deal - sure it's cheaper than a Haltech or AEM, but do you know anyone with the PowerExcel software...)

If you're considering buying one for anywhere near the price of a Haltech, I'd say step it up to the unit that's known for ease-of-tuning and reliability. If you have a crazy deal on a F-con and don't mind paying out the ass for a tune, get the F-con.

Haha well, Steve's prices are pretty good I hear, but for XS Engineering to tune a PFC they charge like a grand. Damn

jebus, a grand to tune a pfc?

for the op, liek everyone else said, get a management that you can easily find a credible (sp?) tuner for.

no use in taking a $800+ stand alone and then blowing a rod through your hood.

pssst... get a pfc. you'll love it! and buy a wideband! haha.

$600 for a stand alone tune is well worth it

we're an apexi dealer, we have the power excel authorization by apexi which unlocks everything in the power fc's capabilities. we are able to control the vvt where as just an fc edit or other power fc data logger can't. it's pretty cool

i like the power fc d-jetro myself. gets rid of that intake restriction aka maf
