Mass Air Flow (sensor) Located between the airbox and the intake pipe.
IACV is just behind the airbox, et al.

Charley, MAFs= mass air meter... Location is just before air filter box... The intake air control valve is located passenger side behind intake manifold, close to firewall... I would not suggest messing with either item... Get checked out by a professional... What's the problem??? Idle quality not good??? Good luck... Alan

yea my car idles fine when i start up and everything, but once i start bringin the rpms up high like 5's then at a stop my idle will stay at 1500, honestly to me its gotten worse since when my check light came on. when that happened nothing happened, but now that its been on for about 2-3 mths and it idles funky! ah ha , i used FUNKY. but yea, so the maf is that little square black box that has a wire that leads off of it into the air filter box correct?
and the iacv is behind manifold or whatever?
how much does iacv cost?
by the way its a zenki(95)

Charley, you don't want to by one if you don't have too... Very expensive!!! But, especially if your check engine light has come on, you need to have a diagnostics test run on it... I'll bet it will tell you what's wrong with your idle problem...

please help!
by the way, how do you know my name?

You can clean them both. I don't know the "correct" way to clean the MAF, but I know people that have just removed it from the intake piping and spray it with carb cleaner. I don't really know what would get dirty in the MAF though.
I would also recommend taking off the rest of the piping to the throttle body and spray that down with cleaner. Alot of oil gets caught on the plate, and gunks everything up. It will also make cleaning the IACV a little easier with that pipe gone.
Immediatly to the right of the throttle body, there is a 1/2" metal tube sticking out, with a rubber hose going to the intake piping. Remove the hose, and cover the TB (throttle body) with something, like a sock. Start the car, and spray carb cleaner (starting fluid doesn't work. trust me.) down the tube. Short bursts, cuz the idle will raise a lot. After a few shots, it should run a lot better. Put your piping back together, remove the sock, and you're good to go.

Charley, If you need an IACV I might be able to get you a new one for less than Nissan offers them if you can install it yourself (have a few hookups)
P.S. I think you login name may have something to do with how people know your name, but it is just a hunch.

hey, i went down to autozone and bought me a can of carb cleaner, but they say that it's better to use throttle body cleaner?
so where do i spray this carb cleaner.
around the throttle body, throttle plate, or down the TB, and that pipe that you said, which pipe are you referring to, theres 3
do i spray just on TB or the pipe, or both

Ehh. Carb cleaner v. throttle body cleaner. Exact same thing, but the tb cleaner is more expensive. Just like you can pay $2.50 for a bottle of clutch fluid, or pay $.99 for brake fluid, and they both do the same thing.
Check you tb. If there is any oil or anything where the butterfly is, spray it down and clean off the gunk. If not, cover the tb so nothing bad gets sucked in, and remove the 1/2" tube from the 1/2" pipe. Start your car. It won't want to run right, so it's best to have a friend help you by giving it a little gas. Spray a few bursts of carb cleaner down there, and it should run better.

so spray tb cleaner down the little "L" shaped metal piece?
the L shaped piece that connects to the head, or the long metal piece that come from under the intake manifold?
thanks
