Thought you guys may enjoy this. This thread on Pistonheads follows the excavation of a Nazi bunker found in this mans garden. Really interesting read!

Would hve been better if they found an old school tank or a pile of guns or something. Still that would be pretty cool to have on your property.

Heres a quote for the lazies:

Hi folks. Back at the keyboard. Just spent some time tidying up and trying to fence off the entrance for safety. We had to dig a good 10 foot deep hole, and the surrounding rock is very loose. I hope it doesn't rain. Also a few people came round to have a look.

Right, where do I start. The tunnel (because that's what we now know it is) is definitely real. No photoshopping here :)

http://images36.fotki.com/v1202/photos/5/573775/2920456/DSC00384-vi.jpg

It's over 8 feet in diameter, and around 60 odd feet long. Its completely underground, apart from the opening we dug. No there wasn't any vintage mercedes or luftwaffe uniforms ;).

There were paint pots  (well, tar pots infact). No carpet though! There was genuine german WW2 barb wire (as someone spotted). There was also various stuff we couldn't recognise. We haven't taken anything out, or gone through it with a fine tooth comb.

There wasn't any gold bars visible to the naked eye :( , but then I put this into perspective by reminding myself that there is a 60 tunnel under the garden!

Oh, and did I mention there appears to be a false floor in part of it?

Went through all pages earlier today.

That's definitely a cool find.

Imagine how many S-chassis parts you can store in there?

My garage, closet, living room, and shed would be happy to score something like that.

i'm not kidding, if that was mine, i'd make some foam rocks to attach to a pair of doors. and that'd be my garage.

It's so dumb when people linked from other forums register somewhere just to post in one thread, just like all those stupid "ownage" threads.

Anyone else notice that the "light switches" are located at the far end of the tunnel?
That wouldn't make sense, unless there's more to this tunnel than is visible.
Maybe the concrete at the end is blocking off more of the tunnel.

I also can't wait to find out what the buried concrete wall is for behind his garage.

I love that thread.

My grandma had some classy Nazi record player given to her parents as a gift after the German army came through her village and the officer picked her house to stay in for the night. I wonder how much it's worth.

Super cool stuff. :rawk:

Wish people on that forum would stop cluttering up the thread with useless shit making it so much to look through. :bash:

My grandfather was a veteran of the entire war, joined the British army and went into the airborne in 1939, and even participated in operations with the SOE. So I'm super hooked on this thread... anything ww2 related is really interesting to me.

So "Nazi Bunker" = My attention.

He managed to get a decent collection of "souveniers" I've got some cool stuff. ;)
