Its more of a security issue not distance. I used to have a crappy car so attending meets once in a while was no concern. These days I would imagine those with nice cars would be more reluctant to attend mass gatherings.

Once the NBA Finals are over (Go Lakers!) I'll try to hit up a meet but right now the games have been falling on Tuesdays and most of the playoffs.

This just came to me!.... What if there are weekly meets that rotate 4 different locations each month and then repeat? Examples: one meet up in Mira Mesa, second meet in Santee, third meet in Chula Vista, and the fourth meet in Mission Valley?? Each location will always have the same week and day of the month and people who want to go and not drive far can just wait for the meet that's closer to them or you can drive to all of them if you want?

Does anyone think this might be a good solution?

it might be ok, but there isnt enough people for that yet, if we did that, there would only be like 2 or 3 cars at every meet, maybe like mira mesa, and like kearny mesa, except for there arnt many places to meet in kearny.

I'm mainly on the Nico forums and I've been trying to get the meets consolidated so that we can have more of a presence in San Diego. Right now what is happening is like 6 cars meet in Esco, 8 cars in Chula, 4 in Santee, etc.

The first step to getting bigger meets is geting reasonable contact info from everyone who wants to meet up with people. I've made a myspace; although it does have the EVIL nico name (LAWL) I hope that people here will join up so that we all can coordinate better.

I'm hopin' to put together a Canyon ride (nothin' crazy, just summer fun drivin in San Diego) in July, and a few workshops and things so that we can improve each others rides (But that's in the distant future). Anyways, first step: go here:

there is also a meet down south that has been going on for over a year now. mostly 240's. Thurs. Knights members started it back then and its been chill ever since. Thurs. Knights are a group of guys that have the regular thurs. night car meet and chill. BBQ's, fishing/ car meet's, sushi gatherings and planning a go cart track event soon. We also hit the regular drift events that pop up every now and then. Most san diego 240 owners know us and show to the meets every now and then.

Knights havent had a meet since I organized the sddrift BBQ. heres the details......MEET @ 730-800, (depending on where you live) head 805 south, EXIT OLYMPIC PARKWAY and turn left. go down about 3 lights till you see BRANDYWINE, turn left again! go up the hill and turn right @ the first light. then go into that shopping center, we are in between blockbuster and mcdonald's. pm me if you need my # in case you get lost.

Friday 27th is a friday paypay... I'm usually our the door by 3pm on those days... The 24th tickles my fance cause it's a little pitstop between weekends.

Who knows... I think meets are cool and everything but they all have their exp. date. It'll usually get burned or die out so I've always thought bi-weekly meets were more guided towards the quality over quantity spectrum.

Everyone said the same thing about Mira Mesa, and then the people who actually went realized there was no issue. If you don't want to go, cool, but stop bitching about cops. They are EVERYWHERE. The only real solution is for you to not drive your cars at all.

W T F? There has to be more to the story than just having an exhaust and getting impounded. The worst I got was a warning my hood popped, a "lesson on what's illegal" and 30 minutes of my time for driving fast on Mission going to In n Out. Hmm.. I've never been to a meet in Mira Mesa except for when my cousin worked at Rev'd Up Kustomz last year. Maybe you're referring to the Carmel Meet a long while ago? I remember meeting a girl with a black zenki there. As for the point I was making, I was just saying that there is a targeted group, but I see your point as well.

Point taken, but it still doesn't change the fact that people do have their experiences and they should be shared so others don't fall into the same situation. Annual or monthly/every other month meets are usually better than weekly meets anyway; more people and a less chance of police knowing the spot.

Never said they were. In fact the one that pulled me over in San Marcos was a really chill officer. He was just doing his job and even gave me advice and talked about tracks and such. I've personally NEVER run into an asshole cop. I may have gotten hassled about exhaust noise or mods, but I've never encountered an officer with an attitude. I even thought the cop that gave me my fix it ticket a year or so ago wasn't that bad. You only get attitude if you give attitude.

I agree SDDrift is totally local. But not everyone at the meet drifts and I think people feel more comfortable with this thread. Besides Louie and I there was only one other drifter.

And as far as group size. The biggest meets I ever attended on SDDrift were the Thursday Knights meets and we never got past 10-12 cars during the strongest days. And that's cause Thurs. Knights are cool as fuck and had a welcoming attitude.

Tonights meet gathered more than that. A lot more. Anyone's invited it's totally chill and safe. Shit we even had a miata section. BTW that was a bad ass C1 corvette.
