welp, so i went to the movies, and there are quite a few things that didn't make sense, or dosn't seem right...

-people seems to have trouble aiming except james bond. during the 1st part, where they found out that he was a spy everyone can shoot... around mr bond, just not at mr bond...

-after mr bond was traded back for zao, they were able to find out that mr bond had scorpian (sp) venom in him just by scanning nonsense blue light at him. boy, technology has changed, cure for aids next?

-mr bond can go into cardio arrest anytime he wants, just for fun, and to escape a hospital... brilliant

-this part didn't make sense to me, he was traded back in NORTH KOREA and after he escaped he jumped off the boat and swam to hong kong?
a) it is a long swim, since it's james bond, he can do anything
b) or maybe the ship was in hong kong... but wtf is the brits doing in hong kong? they handed it back to china in July of 1997 already

-an island that's a hospital? now that's just the ultimate efficentcy at it's best...

-mr bond discovers this secret button on the wall that enters the evil "gene" lab kinda place. now why would you have a secret button on a wall that's a key to a huge ass lab? i mean, don't every worker/patient have to enter from this place? so why should it be hidden... maybe i'm the one that missed out on this whole "secret entrance" thing.

-gene swaping? now that's just fabulous.

-why did jinx kill the doctor? just to use his computer to find someone? talking about making a big deal out of nothing.

-i'm not gonna go into talking about the supersonic nonsense ring and the transparent car, i mean, it's a 007 movie, arn't there suppose to be cool gadgets? but of course the most useless thing you can think of, glass breaking ring, becomes the life saver.

-gustav can pin point his landing location when he's on the parachute. com'on be more realistic here.

-of course, gustav can launch a super duper weapon into space without anyone know. i think we better buy nasa some coffee.

-later on we find out that the guy who died didn't die (the son of some guy) but he had a gene swap done on him. now if you do the gene swap, why in the world would you speak w/ a french accent? i mean, he still speaks korean didn't he? and he got his education in america. where does french accent come in?

-zao drives a convertable jag (XJ8?) in the freakin north poll. man, that damn semi gene swap nonsense has messed him up good.

-an astan martain that's bullent proof, bomb proof, and scratch resistant even when it went belly up at like 100mph, still no scratch. i think that's an astan martin to invest in.

-when gustav started to clear a path from north korea to south korea, the US was watching this whole thing on their monitors/screens/etc. and all of 'em blew up. I don't know... but i really doubt there's anything you can display on the screen to cause it to blow up and shoot spraks out of it(other than scheissa videos).

-there was 2 parachutes for the whole entire huge ass plane...

-lastly, will this movie be shown in north korea? or, do they have theators there?

p.s. anyone got more?

Ye of no knowledge! James Bond is the coolest guy EVER. James Bond should never be criticized (except for the bad CGI scenes) for realism. You must accept - b/c we don't know much about the world of high-tech gadgets used by super-spies.

First off, you have to understand James Bond to get into the movies. With a bit of understanding, the movies becomes a total story moving from the Flemming novel's brutal Bond to the 60's suave but dangerous Bond to the 70's extravaganzas, and into the modern action Bond... all in one movie.

NOw for your questions:
1. b/c shooting someone is harder than you think. Only the best can actually hit someone.

2. think of it as an open air CAT or MRI scan type dealie

3. Yes.

4. Boat was in Hong Kong - MI-6 still has a presence there (the city has been in many Bond movies)

5. Private islands are common hiding places for dangerous operations and evil vilians (see, e.g., Dr. No, Man w/ the Golden Gun, etc.). Where else would you hide such a secret facility?

6. Hidden doors are cool - besides, it wasn't that hidden.

7. yes it is.

8. yes - but she's not very bright. The women never are.

9. Gadgets are cool - the car is based on existing US technology. It always works that way for the gadget you can't imagine he'll use. Goes to show how little we konw about beign a spy and what they need.

10. Yes - uh - so can anyone. That's why there are targets at all jumping schools.

11. Space doesn't belong to the US exclusively. Other countries, N. Korea included, are allowed to use it.

12. Remember when Zao was at the clinic and there was a German audio telling him his background - some of it in German? Just like that.

13. What did you expect - a WRX?

14. bullet proof cars have been a James Bond staple for some years. I'm sure that is additional cost over the base Aston.

15. You're right, you don't know. Unless you've seen a highly cnocentrated beam of light from the Icarus satelite, you can't say, can you?

16. How many come in a standard United 747? and those have 50 times as many passangers.

17. Maybe - and perhaps like showing Black Hawk Down in Somilia, the people will cheer when the villians do something well.

Now go buy the box set and embrace!

Oh you have to admit you'd want an anti air defense dual shotgun system in your Aston Martin. hell I would to keep all those birds from taking a s#%t on it.
Remember golden eye though... who would've thought that clicking a pen three times would set off the explosion to destroy the whole freakin' place... well most of it.

what about the part where zao uses his pair of sunglasses look alike thing to see where bond is hiding with his invisible car in the begining and the fail to use that one again when he try to ram bond off the icy building and then ends up with killing himself ??

And speaking of unanswerable questions, what's worse, all you guys ruining the damn movie for me, or my dumb ass for reading it all anyway?

dude, no offense, but those were all pretty much dumb questions, if you are going to ask something that didn't make sense about the movie how about when he ejected the passenger seat to flip the car back over, but jink sat in that same seat(that shouldn't be there) a little later when he rescued her. or how about the cars that fell out of the plane, the red ferrari (maybe it wasn't a ferrari i don't remember) fell from a plane into a marshy like pond nose first and didn't even break the windshield or crumple the hood or anything? those were things i question

On a side note, all in all i was dissapointed in this bond movie, Ford ruined it ya know???
anybody else notice how everything excpet a few exotics like a porsche, a lotus, and a couple ferraris was made by Ford

-Aston Martin
-Land Rover
-Jaguar (sp.?)
-the Thunderbird
ALL WERE FORD!!!
i am sure there are more i just got home from school though and don't wanna think, not to mention the huge marketing budget ford put behind the movie...

is this the first james bond movie you've seen? they all have that cheezy feeling to them like ok, like that's going to happen. but that's the point. he's supposed to be a guy who can get out of any situation and be a ladies man. three things to remember are, he can get out of any pickle, he's going to use some cool unseen-before gadgets, and once he's gotten out of the ordeal, he's going to get some action with a fine girl, maybe even two girs total by the end of the movie. i haven't seen the new one but that's the format for pretty much every james bond movie, but i love it. i just bought the seven dvd set (there are way more movies than this).

Aight, here we go.

1. Shooting IS hard. Bond is and MI6 agent trained not to miss. Don't forget that he is a 00 agent for a reason.

2. Again, like someone else said, thing CAT, PET, or MRI only in secret government gadget style.

3. People can lower their heart rate to levels that make them appear to be in cardiac arrest. Monks have been able to do it for hundreds of years. It takes time and concentration.

4-6 copied from someone else

7. The government didn't even think it was really going on. That makes it even better.

8. She killed the doctor so that no one could say she was there. She also attempted to burn the paper file of herselft but failed.

9. Watch all the old movies. It is usually some nonsense gadget that does exactly what bond needs to save himself. In this move it is a glass breaking ring.

10. How stupid are you? Of course people can pinpoint where they want to land. It takes a lot of practice but this guy never sleeps so he has time on his hands.

11. He could send it thru north korea or he could send it up under a company front as some kind of "communications" satellite.

12. This guy is obviously well traveled. Born in North Korea. School in American and Europe. Oh, isn't France in Europe?

13. Mebbe he likes it cold. Whatever floats his boat.

14. damn straight that's an Aston Martin to invest in. Why do you think its the car of choice of MI6? They would just go out and buy a Honda for Bond.

15. Again, like someone else said, you've never seen one so you don't know what it could do. This is a Bond movie, it's just make-believe.

16. There were two parachutes in the section that they were in. That is NOT the whole plane.

17. Why not. I'm sure the North Koreans all know that they are nasty bastards.

Next time you watch a Bond movie remember that this is James Bond and he is THE MAN! Don't question it, just enjoy.

My question is how the sun/laser could shear off the side of a glacier (solid ice) in a few seconds, but destroying an ice castle that's never more than a few feet thick, takes 10 minutes?

GotDriftS14
12-09-2002, 07:07 AM
speaking of ice, i think its funny how sme people seem to believe that global warming will cause the polar icecaps to melt, hence flooding the entire earth! oh no! uh last time i checked, ice had a higher density than water, so if the ice caps did in fact melt, the water levels on earth would go down! wuahhahahahahaha!! suckers.

vg30s12
12-09-2002, 11:04 AM
That reasoning is interesting, but a little flawed, since the majority of the ice caps sit above the water so have no effect on the level at all, which they would if they melted. Which isn't going to happen anyway.
On the light beam, I thought it was even funnier that the light beam cut through the glacier and instantly blew up half an armored division yet at the end the plane flew through the beam and came out the other side still flying.
As Bond movies go (I have seen all of them more times than I can count) this one didn't impress me. The plot was good, but the beginning was way to dark and serious. Bond in an NK prison for 14 months? No way. He would escape in 14 minutes. Bond is supposed to be invincible, I don't want to see him like that. Major downer. The Aston Martin was sweet, though still not as cool as the submersible Lotus Esprit from The Spy Who loved Me. The CGI also left something to be desired. I hate to see them depend too much on it. I remember the old days, like at the beginning of Thunderball, the rocket pack was actually real and the stuntman was really flying it. And when Roger Moore did that spiral jump in an AMC Hornet, they really did the jump, so there was no way it could look fake. That speedboat jump in Live and Let Die actually broke a world record! Filmmakers are getting spoiled by CGI. If the graphics were better, more on par with Star Wars Ep. II, it would be better, but no one else seems to be able to get to that level. I just saw Reign of Fire, and their CGI was awesome. Too bad the plot sucked.

i think the movie was great, you have to respect the cheese factor. the movies are meant to be cheesy. i mean, in what other movie can you see a airplane thats crashing and this hot chick (frost) is randomly wearing almost just a bra and about to kill jinx who is equally as half naked. why did they get the sensation to take off their clothes during a cut? i dunno, but its all good...

Go watch the movie Equilibrium. Now that is a badass movie. You can see the trailer at www.quicktime.com. We drove 30minutes to see this movie, and it was well worth it. Some movie places won't be showing it, but search around. You will find it and enjoy it.
