I'm going to be picking up a 1972 Baja Bug in a few weeks, and was wondering if anyone here has one or has ever had one. These things are cool as all hell!
Here's the Wiki page (not very well written but you'll get the idea) for those who don't know what they are...

I really don't like germans cars, but after driving this thing around a couple times, I had to have it. I'll get pics up as soon as I take possesion of it.
and yeah its the fourth car i'll be owning, alongside my s13, s30, and AE92

Baja Bugs are pretty cool, but I'd rather have a Sand Rail.
Cool cars all the same. Get the pics up.

when I was a teenager I had a 50's beetle that was a "baja" .. It was fun to drive, I dont remember it having the jacked up suspension, so maybe it wasnt a full conversion. I wish I still had it, I'd make it a daily driver.

why would you put away the baja bug when the weather is bad? you do realize that every piece of an old bug will unbolt right? about the only thing you have to weld in is floorpans...i see no reason to worry about salt on the roads...replacement parts are cheap as fuck.
if you pm me your address ill send you some of my old aircooled specific v-dub mags.
do an engine swap if you want, but you can get aircooled crate engine for around the same price if not cheaper. and then you dont have to worry about running a radiator and ecu and shit.

You can also mount a HD engine to the volkswagen trans, no constant valve adjustments and it will sound like a bike.

first off, SW20Racer, is bringing all sorts of win to this thread.
second, i dont think the heat works in it....
third, there will be no engine swap here. i like the old motor, and will probably take it further than what has been done so far.

when i was in HS one of my friends had a baja bug. that thing was so fun, we would drive half on the sidewalk and half in the street destroying trash cans on trash day. we would take it into the park and jump the hills in the park. baja bugs can take sooooo much abuse.

I was into Baja bugs early on, owned a mint 70' but never did anything to it. From what I can remember 67's were my favorite year they are the last year to have chrome bumpers, first year to have the 12volt system, beefier front suspension and 5 lug.

before it was lowered. I now have different bumpers. I'll try to get some updated pics and motor pics up soon. The person that had it before me was a girl and she choose the color of the car, thats why its all gay and baby blue. I want to paint it a gunmetal color.
