nice, how come your car has regular lights when I see projectors on most of the 240's with silvia front ends in the US?

Did the newer s13 silvias come with projector lenses?

The car had projecters on it but I changed them cause they were ugly. Plus everybody has projecters so I decided to be a little diffrent. I think I tlooks so much better, but hey thats just my opinion.

hmmm. Interesting... I think your right they do look better. I just wish the projectors weren't that bright yellow color.

So what year light did you put on? when did they switch to projectors?

So the ones you have on now have 2 lights hi/low but the projectors have 3 lights correct?

PS I own an s14 so I don't know as much about the s13's or s13 silvias for that matter.

Well I dont really know what year they came on, since I bought them used and didnt even think to ask. Come to think of it Ive only seen one other silvia w/ the non projectors on it. You got me curious now, Ill have to check it out and get back to ya.

The square lights came on the older silvia. 1988 to 1991, I think.... They all came with the CA motor. I have the square lights on my car too....

I too think they look better then the projectors, but much harder to get here in the states.......

your car looks nice even without the paintjob. If I had that car over here the paint would be the last thing on my mind, I mean YOU can't see it when your driving.

Non-projectors came on all Base Model S13 Silvias.

Projector headlights were factory optional.

If I'm not mistaken from 88-90 S13s came with dual projectors as the optional headlights... and 91-93 S13s came with triple projectors as their optional headlights.

Yep

'base model' = Silvia J's.

The Q's and K's (at least almost always) had projectors. Dual with the CA, triple with the SR.

The factory Sil-Eighties ('96) had the non-projector lights.

Non projectors look faaaaar better than the projectors, and I've always felt that way! it's not really unique to have the reflector (non projector) lights at all-- or it doesn't seem so. I've seen just as many silvias/sileighties with the reflectors as I have with the projectors.
For example sileightymania and drfthvn. In fact, if I were doing the sileighty job to my 240 hatch, I might even go for the dual projectors so I don't look like I'm trying to be like benson. Seriously!! I wish that guy got triple projectors so I could have the non-projectors and not be seen as a wannabe.

You wouldnt be seen as a wanna be in my eyes, If it looks good thats all that matters. For the guy asking where I am stationed, Im at Yokota AB, just outside Tokyo city.

Yea, I do not like the projectors myself. The square light looks so much better. I had to search forever to get the square ones. All the suppliers kept getting the projectors......

Heres a pic of mine with the square lights......

WOW Grumpy, your car came out looking helluv nice. I have pictures of it from back when you first got the bumper and didn't have the paint job yet. Which paint color did you end up getting on there? Looks like Midnight Purple from the Skyline.

Thanx guys, the color is 1999 Chevy Midnight rose.

The bumper is a Omega S14 R-33 style bumper that I custom fitted to the car. I still have so much work to do with the car. I think I am going to repaint it next month. Plus, I have lots of upgrade parts for the motor that I need to put on.

Not sure but I might sell the car this coming spring!!!! I want to start a new project..............

Heres what the motor looks like right now............

So basically, three different headlight types for S13 Silvias... no wonder Nissan lost so much money. =) I didn't realize that the non projector came with base Silvia... That's a fun fact for me haha

Anyway... yeah.. you also have the dual projector and free form fog headlights as well.

I'm waiting on some non-projectors (being shipped currently) since my dual projectors are completely cracked (friend tried to align them from RHD to LHD when he owned the car). IMHO, they look much better than the projectors...cleaner and more "factory".

P.S. two-tone is king! I searched for one forever before giving up and picking up a gold-champagne coupe, even though I hate gold. It's soon to be black, anyway.

Well Ill be leaving the car the light blue color, and putting a kit on it so I wont have to cut the stock bumper for the FMIC. If I could Id leave it it stock but the FMIC sticks out of the stock bumper like a sore thumb. Oh well the kits over here are pretty mild looking, nothing to crazy.

That S13 Looks familiar...my second Silvia looked like that. Two tone Green and grey.

The lights came as follows

Silvia Q's CA18DE - Square
Silvia K's CA18DET - Two projector and one square fog
Silvia SR's - three projector

PS13's never came with the square lights.

Yokota? Right over across the road here in Atsugi.
Need to hook up sometime :)

Do you know Mike? R34 blue S13 Silvia?

Grumpy!

Long time no see man. The car looks great!

Wait Grumpy... so that is your car? Im sorry but I just thought that that car was a bit famous due to the rarity of an RB motor in an S14. Did you take the S15 tranny or go with the AWD?

RedStage
01-13-2003, 03:06 PM
Matt...Grumpy has an RB25DET in there.
The vast majority of RB25DET's are FR....

The only turbo RB25DET's that were AWD were in a station wagon (Stagea)

Nizmo S14 - Those projectors are SR 91 and up lights for the S13.
The CA lights had a square fog light instead of the inner most projector.

On the headlights....

I prefer the double square. My second Silvia had those.
First one had the two projector and one square fog.

As for the projectors...the ones you have pictured do look better than the older projectors.

But the Squares are my favs. I got pop-ups now though :(

But the car is a hell of a lot faster than my CA18DET ever was.

For you guys looking for the non-projectors headlamps, it looks like the ones from a 90-92 Stanza may fit. I think they may be too short though, I dunno. The Stanza looks so much like a 4dr S13 Silvia, hehe. Too bad they aren't RWD. Kinda like the ER34 and the BNR34 or rather the 4dr Skylines and 2dr Skylines, hehe.

hey Grumpy, how much work did it take to get front bumper on your silvia on there? I might want to try that on my car when i convert it.
