I wanted to see if there's any interest in this trade. The turbo is currently on my car, but if there's some interest in the trade then I'll pull it off and we'll do this.

Want to trade: My Pulsar GTiR T28 turbo for your S14/15 ball-bearing T28 turbo, plus a little cash

Why? This turbo would be great if my car were a little lighter, but the S13 'vert is a heavy bitch and I could use some more low-end torque. Either that, or start stripping things out, but it's a DD and I like my creature comforts.

Information:
-S14 T04B compressor housing
-Fresh rebuild by Blaast turbo in early February, upgraded with 360* thrust bearing. ~1000 miles of street driving since then, no track duty.

If you're not familiar with the GTiR turbo, it is (I believe) the largest factory T28 that Nissan used. .86 turbine A/R helps it flow really well on the top end, while sacrificing some spool time. Standard journal bearing. Usually has a T3 Super 60 comp housing, but this one has an S14 T28 comp housing which is a common upgrade for these turbos (especially on RWD SRs). Better flow, and also makes it easier to use on a RWD SR application.

With this turbo, you'll sacrifice a little spool time compared to a T25, in return for a nice kick in the ass and smooth power all the way to redline. On my mostly stock SR, boost still comes on pretty early, but transient response isn't as good. Any number of things could improve this (staged boost control, tuning, etc...none of which I have). My gas mileage actually may have improved as well; 24mpg mixed driving, 28mpg highway. With the better housing, you can see ~320WHP out of these turbos with fuel and tuning.

You're getting a virtually brand new GTiR turbo with an S14 comp housing and 360* thrust bearing, already clocked and ready to bolt in place of your S14 T28.

Terms of deal: Trade for an S14/15 ball-bearing T28, plus cash depending on the condition. If you want to trade straight-up, it had better be really fucking mint. Like, brand new mint. For the typical unknown mileage, low-shaft-play T28, I'd want a couple hundred on top. Between buying the turbo, housing, having it rebuilt, etc, I've probably spent ~$800 on it. Trade would include the turbo itself, unrestricted oil fitting (in exchange for your restrictor fitting), and exhaust outlet nuts/bolts.

I'm in VA, so we'd probably have to work out some sort of shipping arrangement.

PM me if you're interested, and thanks for lookin'!!

i think this is a little pricey. i am intrested in the turbo, but the gti-r turbo goes for around $300-350 and its only $180 to rebuild it at blast performance. i got my old one rebuilt there. but if you lower the price i may be interested.

Not trying to shit on your thread though

~$180 is the basic rebuild cost, before shipping and any additional costs (like a 360* thrust bearing upgrade, which costs more). The average good-condition S14 T28 goes for $300 to $350, trading one of those plus a couple hundred $$$ for a virtually brand-new turbo of roughly equal stature seems fair to me. Thanks though ;)

Also, the average $300-350 GTiR turbo isn't clocked to fit a RWD SR, and doesn't have an S14 compressor housing.

clocking that turbo is a bitch ! I had one on my sil80. You can make a bracket for $50 that will allow the wastegate to bolt up no matter how its clocked.

just my 2cents, the turbo has some nice pull on the top end though.

willing to part that hks wastegate setup?

Nope, I'm keeping that. Just looking to switch out the turbo and keep everything else as is.

Not interested in selling it?

I suppose I might, depending on the offer. I'd rather just trade to keep it simple though...

Neat turbo, I'm building one just like it.......the costs do add up. With all the pain of getting the parts and rebuilding it I'd be tempted to ask top dollar as well......definitely the holy grail of nissan OEM turbos.

How much would you want on top of a trade? Ive got an early model s14 t28. It doesnt burn any oil but has a very slight bit of shaft play.
