View Full Version : Question about flashy wheels.

I recently painted my rims a gunmetal with a bunch of rainbow flake. I have been told numerous times that im gonna get pulled over for them.

So my question is are rims with pearl/flake illegal?
I was told that they are a distraction, which is somewhat similar to the reason neon underglow is illegal (not that i would rock that shit)

Heres a picture of them so you guys can see for yourselves.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BTW Dont mind the junk tires, i didnt mask them cuz they are getting replaced.

Like the sun bouncing off chrome rims isn't a distraction.

:keke:

I'd rock that.

Mount neon green strobe lights inside the wheel.

so colorful wheels are illegal?

but spinners aren't?

doubt it

Chrome wheels aren't illegal and would reflect/refract more than those. That would be my argument if a cop wanted to be a dick to me about them.

Neons emit light and that's why they go after people with them.

Neon's usually aren't a problem unless they are the same color emergency vehicles use or cops use, ie red or blue. Your rims are fine.

whoever told you that they are illegal is stupid and should be thrown in jail for being dumb because i declared that it is illegal to be dumb and free... lol

STOCK Mustang Cobras from 1996 and up must be highly illegal. The whole car changes color thanks to BASF "Mystic" paint.

Go back and find the guy who told you it was illegal, and kick him in the balls, numerous times.

That paint finish is hot.

I don't think it's illegal. It damn well shouldn't be at least.

Nah, that shit isn't illegal.

Might get you pulled though, hahahaha, but I doubt it.

Unless they write tickets for Ballin' out of control, then your pretty safe.

I think you should be FINE :x: Looks like only if you have the neon or the other stuff listed there

Unlawful Vehicle Modifications

Under traffic laws in most states, drivers may be given a traffic ticket for operating a vehicle that has been modified in violation of laws that regulate vehicle specifications and vehicle equipment. Examples of vehicle modifications that may result in a traffic ticket include:

Addition of non-standard lighting (neon lights, under-vehicle lights),
Alteration or removal of air pollution and emissions control device
Modification of vehicle ground clearance ("lowered" or "raised" vehicles),
Removal of mufflers and other sound-control devices, and
Window tinting (especially tinting of windshield or driver/front passenger side windows). An unlawfully-modified vehicle can receive a traffic ticket for a mechanical violation. In some states, citations for certain unlawful vehicle modifications are considered "fix-it" tickets or "correctable violations." In California, for example, if you are given a "fix-it" ticket by a police officer, "yes" will be checked next to "Correctable Violation", and after the problem is fixed (i.e. you remove illegal under-car lights), you must get the signature of an authorized person (i.e. a local law enforcement officer) on the "Certificate of Correction" portion of the ticket. If you are issued a "fix-it" ticket for an unlawful vehicle modification in your state, read the ticket to determine whether you can mail the proof of correction, rather than taking it to court.
If the court accepts your correction, the case will be dismissed. But, if you fail to fix the problem within a short time after you receive a "fix-it" ticket, you will need to pay the fine for the unlawful vehicle modification, and you may be issued another ticket which will go on your record.

Well thanks for the replies, the reason i actually believed it was because i was told by one of the employees at Neds auto body. He said that its happend before on some chameleon paint 24's. Dudes were probably doing something wrong, or got profiled and the cop used that as an excuse. So im gonna say its false.

*EDIT* Im out of rep, i will hit up all the people that contributed in 24 hours.

I loved the motivation poster, lol

There's absolutly nothing wrong with the 17x9 + 20's IMO. Which those could be.
