I remember back when it was rainy my friend yanked on his e-brake on his old bmw 318i to execute a 180 and the rear wheels locked instantaneously. I tried a number of times in my car but got nothing, yet it holds the car when its parked. I don't think my friend had anything done to his car just rims and fender pull. Is it the brakes? pads? line?

could be the pads. But more than likley the e-brake cable is loose. It can get loose from two ways. One the cable gets stretched out two the brake pads get worn down. which means more force has to be applied to get the same result as with new pads. To tighten the cable pull up the e-brake. Look under the handle you will see a hole in the boot. Get a ratchet and a 10mm socket and tighten it untill you think it is good. Dont tighten it to much, if you do the brake pads will rub the rotors really bad and will cause drag/heat on the rotors.

bmw migh have drum brakes
which lock up like a bitch!! z32 brakes are the shti!!!
but yeah tighetn it and get new pads
and if u want to lock FAST off teh bat get cheapie pads
if u need it to lock fast on thet rack get nicer pads
cheap pads lock up at low heat
track type pads take a bit to head up
when i used to street drift id have to get the car warmed up and that included drivign w/ the ebrake up a bit to get the pads into the head cycle.
then they worked amazing!

lol thats what i was going to say.. when i try to drift with my ebrake with my oem rear calipers..i just hold it up for a bit..for like a block or 2 (depending on how fast im going) it heats up and they get sticky
and rip it and slide.ha

haven't tried warming up the rear pads before. I though they would warm up by them selves by just driving around and breaking in general

Don't try warming up rear pads if you decided to get the $11 ones from pep boys....they'll already be overheated and you'll have no ebrake at all lol.
My PBRs need to get here.
