Subject says it all. KA24DE, injectors are all stuck in the rail. I just need to replace the o-rings and such, and no matter what I do I can't get the things out. To top it off, I followed the advice in another thread about using a phillips covered with a towel on the jet while prying with a flat from the top. Didn't work, I heard a small pop and now the ceramic piece around the jet on one of the injectors is spinning, and looks to have a hairline crack running through it.
Just how badly am I screwed here, does anyone know?

Yeah, because that method of prying the injectors out sucks.
Use Hose pliers. Works wonders.

I totally would, save I need to get to work tomorrow on this and can't go and buy them just this minute.
I think I'm going to just reinstall as is and hope I didn't break anything, pick up some hose pliers tomorrow and try again...

I got you if you need injectors.
Just don't confuse, "got you" as in, "free".
But yeah.

haha. To get them out, WD40 that bitch. Then start turning the injectors back in forth to lubricate the Oring. After you can turn the injector easily, use a flat head screwdriver and put it up against the back of the injector, where the plug is and start prying slowly.

use a large flat head. rotate it and pry up.

getting the injectors back in was the hard part for me. need to perfect that technique. a large flat head will get them out easy. not a small flat head. not a medium flat head.

Flat head I used is about 1/2~5/8" wide, and tried WD40. They turn easy, but just won't come free. I'll try again, but losing patience and hope quickly.

well if you have to, get a really thin screw driver and stick in on the side of the injector and pry it that way. It has to be thin enough to fit into the side of the injector which is pretty thin!

Or...
Use the hose pliers like I said.
No rigging needed.

Hose pliers worked!
We have changed injectors like over 20 times because of bad o rings with those hose pliers, they work wonders!

Injectors are always a bitch, they will never be easy for anyone....unless u have the right tools. get the hose pliers, a flat head, and some wd or throttle body cleaner (it works) and some patience and u will save the injector for re-use.

Well, I dropped the rail back in, everything runs fine save that leaking injector i was after in the first place. Mangled #1 pretty bad though, but shouldn't be a problem in the future I hope. Gonna drive it to work and go from there.

Bought the hose pliers today, haven't had a shot to try them out. They're from Harbor Freight (ick) but I couldn't find them anyplace else nearby, and I wasn't going to drive out of my way by much. I'll be back with results later.

the hose pliers go around the injector and you pop them off. I figured prime wouldnt wanna go buy them.

Weeellll... fuck. Whatever problem I was trying to fix, I just made worse. 2 dead injectors now. Doubt I should be driving on that...
Anyone got a truck?
!Zar!

Htf did you make it worse?
If they just all of a sudden stop working and you haven't mangled the fuck out of them, then most likely you need to replace the o-rings and then spray them with silicone lube before you put them in.

That's all I did, was replace the o-rings and lube em'. That was the whole point of taking them out for me. All I know is my idle is shot, and pulling the plug on 2 of the injectors makes no difference in the idle itself, whereas the other two do. Didn't mangle them badly, in fact the one I did the most damage to is working fine. So, no idea. Drove the damn thing earlier today with no negatives I could detect. At speed it evens out, so I'm just at a loss right now.

Just replace the orings again, and try again.
I had the same problem a while back.
Just make sure to use enough lube and ease them in slowly.
Kind of like sex with a kid.

I used a prybar. Long one for tons of leverage. They pop right out.

Ok, now I'm pissed. Went to Autozone to buy new O-rings(again), give it a try. They hand me a box, I check the O-rings and hand them back. "Wrong O-rings."
Guy looks at me like I'm stupid, checks the part number, checks the rings in another box, hands it back. "No, they're right." So, I go and get the injectors with the new o-rings and show him. He says try, I say fine.
The O-rings from Autozone work. The ones from before, from Kragen... Wrong. Fucking. O-rings.
I'm straight. Thanks guys for all of the help. Here's hoping I pass Smog this time.
