Hey there
I just picked up a set of 1990 300zx 26mm calipers that I want to fit to my 1995 240SX LE 5 Lug ABS. I've orders a set of new brake lines from project Nissan (PJS-211-1103CF - ProjectSilvia Brake Line 240SX ''89-''98 to 300ZX Front Conversion (240SX 95-98) and will be ordering rotor and pad Monday.

What else do I need? I've looked all over and can't find a blog on what is needed to do this in one sitting. I don't want to start this job and find out I'm missing parts I need.

If anyone has directions and or links to parts or blogs that I need, please fill me in.

Peace.
B

you'll need a bigger master cylinder. probably 1inch or 1 1/16 bore.

26mm Rotors (30 and 32 will not clear the caliper)

26mm Calipers
*caliper re-build kit
*speed bleeders (sooo easy)
*Short Hardlines
*Pad Hat
*Pad Pins
*Mounting Bolts with 5mm washers

300zx SS lines

Good Pads (EBC REDS)

Good Fluid (Motul RPF600)

You have an ABS Master Cylinder so you shouldn't have to worry about changing that yet... if you descide to go 30mm or add z32 rear calipers then you will need to go 1 1/16th.

Thanks Drew

"Mounting Bolts with 5mm washers".
Could I get a better description please? I'll have to fined these bolt on line. Are they the stock bolts for the 300, or the 240?

As well, If anyone comes across a set of rear calipers with the brackets for a 95 240SX ABS. Please shoot me an email.

Cheers.

you can buy all the caliper hardware from PDM-racing.com
tell them what size calipers you have. and go to napa or somthing and get a new BMC. you will need to bend your hardlines to get them to fit...not to mention the 300zx BMC used 2 hardlines, not 3...so what i did..was cutt off the end off my hardline(since the thread pitch was different) got a new fitting and double flared a new fitting on..bench bleed the BMC first..put it on..screw in your lines. put on your ss conversion lines. and calipers/pins. and bleed them..you will need 300zx rotors too. its just me..but i perferr hawk pads..but good luck man

You'll be fine without a new BMC.

yeah but he'll be just fine he's only using 26mm, the abs bmc will be fine to get him driving and the brakes done and on.

I can lock them up without a problem

the grabby pedal thing only applies if you have small wheels (like 15x6)...if youre running anything 17 inches and up (by at least 8 inches wide) the brake will feel like normal

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm waiting for the brake lines to arrive and will have to order that other stuff today.
If you can think of anything else, please keep the info coming. I'd rather be driving the car then working on it...

Cheers.

what's up w/ the mounting bolt w/ 5mm washer? don't the stock 240 bolt fit onto z32 caliper fine?

why do you need extra hardline? can't you use reuse your old hardline and get ss line and connect the caliper to the hardline?

Before installing them it's a good idea to rebuild and them, you can paint them too if you want them to look nice

rebuilding instructions can be found here:
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/215854

you can order the rebuild kit for about $30 here:
http://www.everythingnissan.com/

I know the Part# for the 30mm aluminum calipers is: 41120-30P25
I'm not sure if it's different for the 26mm iron ones... you'll have to checkout everythingnissan to see if there's more than one kit.

You can get a brush on caliper paint kit for about $15 at autozone/walmart
(I like brush on better because it's easier to avoid the areas that need to be kept clean, also you can get 2 kits and 2-tone with accent colored lettering or something...

Installation instructions +everything you want to know about 300zx brakes here:
http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm

I'm putting some 30mm aluminum calipers with brembo rotors and stainless lines in mine...

as for the BMC if you've got an auto tranny they have a larger BMC and booster, even bigger if you've got ABS so that should be fine if you're just doing the fronts... if you're doing the rears too then you should consider using a BMC off of a 300zx tt. :yum:

one of the bolts, i think the z32 bolt, is a little longer and will rub against the rotor without the washer. just bolt it up. if it rubs, add a washer under the bolt head (not between the caliper and spindle)

you don't need the extra hardline. just run the SS conversion line from the body hardline to the caliper.
