View Full Version : How many sets of tires do you go thru...
About how many sets of tire do you go thru in a local drift event? I know this is a broad question but just want to kind of get a feel for what I'm going to get into. Also how often do you go thru tires in your dd?
PS sorry if this post has been done before

Ummm depends on your driving skill, driving style, suspension set up, and HPs.
It also depends on if its a parking lot or track.
Also depends on which type of tires your using and wheel size.
Personally with stock SR spinning 18's I go through 3 pairs per event I would say.

i love the nexan n3000 tires, they last forever. i know a few guys locally that buy them brand new every event and run them all day.
i run n3000 in the back and bridgestones up front, works really well.....
really depends on tires you buy, some can last, some are shitty.

I used the nexans before.
I love them for el toro, but for HTM I felt that they were losing grip after like 5 runs.
But their good cheap tires.
Trust me soap I do. I try.
I'm prolly going to bring 6 pairs for ASB4.

depends how i drive. if i was sponsored, id go thru at least 8 pairs for balcony and 12 for htm haha
but since i must buy them myeslf and control!!!
3 pairs EASY for balcony
2 for HTM (stick w/ the judged section and water tower)
usually ill take it easy
gotta save money!!!
i have 10 tires for ASB

3 pairs. on 220whp.
But we get like 50-60 runs in a day at mineral wells, gotta let them chill.
If I went balls deep with the new setup I could probably do 12-18, I've seen T-Cox do it on brand new Direzzas, it was pretty lols.
prolly bring at least 10 pairs to ASB, wish I had more rims.

I drive on a bone stock SOHC, and at balcony I go thru one set of tires for the day. I'm floored all the way...
For daily driving (no drifting at all) my rears last me about 3 1/2 months (welded diff and bad alignment)

ive never started an event on new tires.
at my first event, 1 set of shitty all season rears with half tread lasted me all day.
but at the last event, i snapped all the belts on some all seasons in like an hour...
as you can see it really depends on your skill level/horsepower. i'm running a pretty basic SR setup with FMIC, and turbo back exhaust. i'm just not baller enough to be running brand new tires for drift events yet, so i just use what i can get my hands on cheap in the back, with pretty decent tires up front.

I chunked a pair of ss 595 in like 20 mins once.
I hate those tires.
But their cheap and I'm poor.

with my ka and 17's at mineral wells (parking lot/airstrip?) i use one new set of nexen/ss595 and bring some random freebies i would get from a friend, some high tread count continentals
like McRussellpants aisd were getting like 50-60 runs in a day and so just do a few runs then let them cool off and it works well
Thanks for the input guys. I think I can handle a few sets of tire an event. Time to find myself a car!!!!

I usually burn 1 pair because I can't afford more than that. I have 300whp and I take frequent cool down laps for the tires and car. When I really mash it and drive all out I could kill a ton of tires but I don't usually do that.
