hey guys,

i'm looking at the rules for NASA PT series and they give up to 3 inches of increased track width from OEM without any added points. Just wanted to figure out how much that would be in concurrence with my current setup.

Just need to find out what OEM is.

Thanks!

this might help. just keep the "rim lip" at 1.5" or below.

thanks for the input guys.

can't keep the rim lip at 1.5" or less since i'm running 7" wide wheels and 225 width tires with +17 offset

so thats umm, 23mm difference in offsets, -30/2=-15mm +23 so 8mm wider track. can run 2" (SCCA IT) = 50mm total so 42/2 = 21mm so around 0 offset for scca, and NASA PT measures differently, so...strictly ahering to offset, +40 - 76.2/2 = +2mm offset wheels on a 225 tire.

SCCA IT for 245mm tire is umm,...20mm/2=-10mm so -10 offset? NASA stays the same due to measuring style.

seems like the contact patch not protruding from the fender well takes precedence now.

dude, i couldn't follow that at all. i think you math is way off. that's why i suggested the link.

if you punch in 17x7 +17 with 225/45/17 (i assumed some of the unimportant height dimensions) it gives you an increase of 38mm on each side in the "fenders" section ("rim lip" was wrong earlier). 38mm/25.4=1.496" increase on each side. 1.496" x 2 gives you just under a 3" increase in track width.

sounds perfect to me. fender clearance will be fine too.
