Ok. So i just replaced my starter 5 days ago. Everything was working great till today. Now my car wont start.
I checked the battery and it is fine. (all my power works, and I tried to jump the car with no success)
The car does pushstart.
When i turn my key, i get no clicking at all.
shouldnt my starter make that noise like its trying?
My only lead is that I bought that car with a CEL for two issues.
I did a diagnostic the other day and it threw codes 34 and 21.
32 is related to my EGR and 21 is Signal circuit Ignition.
Do you think this problem may be my ignition?
*(also i dont know if this has anything to do with it, but i have an ignition kill switch installed. I wired it back without the switch and it makes no difference.)
any info is appreciated. thankyou

The biggest perpatraitors on a car not starting are alarm systems and any other security devices that are installed in between the ignition and starter as a theft deterrent.
I would check and make sure all your wiring is correct, and everything is tight and connected
make sure that nothing is grounding out your starter on or around it.

CEL code 21 might be the reason why your car isn't starting. BTW what engine?

find out why your starter is not turning over. code 21 etc is irrelevant.

Well i noticed it has a bunch of remaining wiring for an old ass alarm system. so i will check everything i guess.

Its a KA24de. why do you think code 21 could be the reason? your info is conflicting with surreyvbc? any reasoning?

why do you say code 21 is irrelevant? are you sure?
Im going to read through the nico post and trouble shoot now.
i appreciate all of your input.
if anyone else has any light to shed on this dark and gloomy situation for me, id appreciate it.

code 21 just means the ecu isnt not getting a sig that starter is cranking. it really does not affect anything at all.
if you turn the key and nothing happens, you have a wiring or grounding problem. check it out.

knights nissan.
basic stuff to check are the switch on the lock cylinder, clutch interlock, and starter relay.

actually i had that same problem
apparently it was such a simple thing...
check your clutch sensor
if its suddenly not making a clicking sound then that might mean that your clutch isn't even in all the way. a small rubber thing fell out of mine and all i had to do was push down the clutch sensor with my foot [rather than the clutch pedal itself].

I have the same problem, I checked my clutch switch (bypassed it even), checked my harness (no breaks), changed all my fuses and relays (with known to be working order ones) and to no avail my car still isn't starting...

look at the link i provided earlier in thread. the starter only needs ground and positive to start. use a multimeter.

make sure that your neutral safety switch is bent or pushed over, and is engaging properly. My buddies car wouldn't start/turn over or anything. He ran through the whole car with a voltmeter and checked every wire, then another buddy lifted up the clutch pedal and saw it was bent. they unbent it and it started right up.
just another thought.

Ok. so i checked for my clutch safety switch. I was told by a friend to follow my clutch up and look for a button that gets pushed in when my clutch is full pressed. and behind it there is a blue harness.
Mine wasnt even there. I have no button, its ripped off and the harness was just taped up with electrical taped and stashed away. I looked at the wiring under there and it seems there was an old shitty python alarm on there and there must have been a bypass. which is pretty fucking whack.
So to temporarily fix the problem my friend suggested i hardwire from my battery and my starter into my cabin a button.
Now I put my key in and turn it on and push this button to start the car. it works fine, but this is strictly temporary.
I guess im gonna have to head to eh junkyard and find a new clutch safety switch and remove the alarm hardwire and rewire everything.
does anyone suggest a friend or good autoelectrician that wouldnt rape me to do this?
or do you think it would be better to get another alarm installed and have the installer sort things out?
thank you guys for all your help.

thats the clutch interlock switch. the neutral switch is on the transmission and doesnt affect car starting.

the clutch safety switch , as you call it, sends ground to the interlock relay by the battery. one solution is to simply connect that wire permanately to ground. that means you dont have to depress the clutch to start car. the relay needs both ground and positive to close the relay switch. a relay is just a switch. the relay switch still needs positive to close so it wont close until you turn key to start and send postive to relay. so, just find the wire and connect it to any ground on car. you dont need a mechanic for that.

look at the wiring of interlock relay. the brown white wire is coming from clutch interlock switch(you are calling this safety clutch switch). this is for 1991. locate this wire and connect it to ground somewhere. the relay is by the battery.
push button is not that great of an idea. use the existing system to avoid problems.
