Let's be honest, most of these intakes will provide the same performance enhancement. As we know the main thing is to replace that lumpy plastic tube and decidedly unaerodynamic airbox with something with better flow.

Now, I've just installed an Injen system on my sister's '89, drives and sounds awesome. My question is, what are the pros and cons with the other intakes from AEM and whatnot? Filter types? I'm looking at something for my '92 and my main concerns are: mandrel bent tubing, decent filter (I am partial to the K&N oiled system, but am open to new ideas). What do you guys have? What do you recommend? Where do you recommend buying from?

And lastly, Injens documentation was slim, what is the recommended mileage to clean the filter? She mainly drives in town in Vegas.

Thanks

you could relocate the battery to the back then get a custom bent 3" tube to go down into that hole, and it creates incredible throttle response

Currently I just have the APEXi power intake, its just the intake filter and the MAF adapter, got it for $115 no tax off of $150+ from a hook up at NOPI. Reason I chose this, because you never have to wash the filter, its made out of I think SUS steel. Same goes for the Blitz filters. And I can just use the filter whenever I get my SR20 and place it on the intake pipings. Don't go this route if your on a budget. I hear that the AEM and INJEN intakes work pretty good, but since their Short ram, your gonna have to buy the extension pipe to make it a Cold Air intake.

Does any one know what intake pipes would fit on a 97 KA24 and on a S14 or S15 SR20? Also anyone selling one? later!

i have a Place Racing CAI and all i can say is the piping is HUGE. i had to cut away/break a lot of my fan shroud to get it to fit and hammer the pipe in around the radiator cap. Also the rubber neck that connects the pipe to the throttle body is starting to tear (barely went on in the first place) since the piping is so big. I have yet to put on the CAI extension because it requires me to cut a bigger hole where the stock intake hole is in order to fit. All in all its the best performance-wise/worst fitting 240 intake i've seen or heard about, it came with a nice K&N filter and still looks great after 2 years though. Sad thing is they were discontinued and i bought the last silver S13 intake they had about 2 years ago (50% off of $250 ). I think they said something like not enough demand. I'll try and get some pictures if anyone really wants to see it up close...

What's all involved in relocating the battery? I'm pretty good with electrical systems, but. . .

Is it simply mount the battery in the back, hook up a solid ground wire, and run a beefy 4 guage or so wire from the battery up to the wiring in the front?

What about simply relocating the battery to the drivers side and securing it there? I'm not one so worried about the weight ratio, and actually would like to keep my s13's mighty cargo capacity

yeah thats about it for relocating your battery. I havea 2guage wire running along the frame by my brake lines from the starter to the battery. get a small sealed battery (like an optima red top) it doesnt take up as much room. or there are the SVR slim batteries. you can mount it in the stock location and do the same thing

kid_nissan - yes you can do that I never bothered buying the CAE and still luved my injen intake

Add to that moving the MAFS cables to the passenger side, and doing something about the vacuum lines. What did you do with the vacuum hose from the little black box (dunrecall the technical name at the moment, iirc it's emissions equipment) that connects to the factory airbox just above the filter?

Where'd you go to get the piping, how much did it set you back? And again, how did you rig up the vacuum lines to it?

Cold air really does make a big difference.. Have you ever just started your car and went down the street and floored it while its still cold? It's a lot faster right? Thats because the radiator isn't hot yet. When you get the short ram, your car will be that fast all the time, but when its cold it will be even faster.. When you get the cold air extension it will be as fast as it was when it was cold with the short ram.. Anyway, you can buy the injen short ram and the cold air extension seperate. You dont have to buy it all at the same time.

Man, God Bless the Injen CAI. It is good stuff. It was the first nod i did....wait its my only mod right now, but thats another story. Ne ways, its made a difference. No huge change, but there was something there. I got the brand new intake for $258 for the annodized blue one. This was the short ram plus cold air. I think i got a pretty good deal. Well it produces a really deep and throaty sound when you are at full throttle and thats fun, but i guess i wont be hearing it once i get my exhaust neways......oh well. Fun while it lasts hehe.
