Discuss. I don't think they are worth 3500. Can get 18 inch works, SSR, etc. Even with the custom sizing, and offset, I don't think it's worth it.

That's just one example, of how peeps in Hawaii price their shit. Sometimes, I don't know what people are thinking.

He's probably trying to make some dough on the wheels! I hated guys like that when I grew up there on the Big Island. Bad enough everything has to be shipped in. Probably why I haven't moved back.......yet!

Definitely not worth 3500...but I don't know about being in hawaii and how that changes things... all I know is I bought a brand new set of Volk GT-C in 19x9.5/19x10.5 for 2500 a couple years ago.

When I replaced the rears for a lower, custom offset from Japan... i paid around $1300 shipped (could be a lil more, I can't remember exactly):

If you want Volks... i highly recommend going to Chris @ F1 Motorsports. Great pricing and great customer service.

Where? in Hawaii?

Because I know here on the continent only a moron would pay that price... b/c they obviously didn't do their homework. 18" Volks don't cost 3500.

That is true. Supply and demand. To think what would happen to this world, if we didn't have stupid people, with a lot of money. :naughty:

Not really true. I just bought a set of fno1's, and shipping for all 4 was 165 dollars, via FedEx. 7-10 days, to get to my door. I'm sure this guy paid a lot more, if he got them shipped directly from Japan, but still. 3500 is overkill.

I agree, but there are alot of kids that blow their parents money like water there in the islands. They are lazy and just want the item, instead of doing the research and finding lower prices! Most of them expect to pay higher prices and dont question it.

I moved away from Hawai'i back in '97 and to this day, even my brothers pay sometimes 1 1/2 to 2 times the amount they should cause they can get it now from someone there!!

I know shipping on a set of wheels is expensive. Has to go airfrieght from the states (no ground shipping available, LOL!) Still seems a little high.

Custom sizes don't cost anything extra than normal sizes when it comes to multipiece wheels

it's more expensive as you get larger obviously...but like...17x7 +40 and 17x10.5 +12 don't really cost that much different from eachother

"Custom Volks" is basically just ordering a wheel from RAYS that retailers don't normally supply... there's nothing custom about it... the specs of your wheels will be from their dimension chart that you have to follow. No such thing as "custom volks being $$$"

Hawaiian240: I see what your saying... this seller is obviously posting a price to see if he can snag one of those people you just described.

you guys should see the price of 240's down here in hawaii. its actually worth the $1000 to ship a car from the mainland down to hawaii, but the only thing that stopped me was the fact that i couldnt see the car in person

That's why it helps if you have friends on the mainland, that can take a look at the car for you. What you said is true though, so much more worth it, to buy cars from the mainland.

We used to fly to Oregon, buy a truck(1 ton turbo deisels), ship it back to the Big Island and it still was cheaper than the dealers at home(with price of the trip included)!

FYI,

MSRP for a set of 17x9/10 GTV in RMC finish is $3200

Also, he is including a set of Volk GT Centercaps, which is MSRP $30 per cap (so $120 for a set of 4)

So MSRP for wheels + caps is $3320

Even if you factor in a "normal discount" off + factor shipping to Hawaii, that's still a semi realistic price

I'm sure he's bumping it up for lowballers to counter offer, but it's not ridiculous by any means

Also, you can still get +13 offset (Face A front + rear)

http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/cgi-bin/cgi2/english/sizeGuide.cgi?modelName=GTV

I wouldn't blame the guy though, I'm pretty sure the shop or whoever sold them to him might have given him the wrong info in regards to being discontinued, etc

Salt Lake in Hawaii is awesome

I remember going fishing in the stream at Moanalua Gardens lol

Catching da kine tilapia, li'dat!

Whats wrong with the fish?

Tilapia in Hawaii is not the same as the farm raised Tilapia you would find in a market in like California

Farm raised Tilapia is all good, but I remember the first time I was in a Mexican supermarket in Socal and I saw the sign at the fish counter that said "Fresh Tilapia"...I was like WTF cause I always knew Tilapia as the rubbish fish (on a side note, I realized that no one in America says "rubbish" and people look at you funny when you say it, cause its like British English...but I digress...)

"Tilapias are predators, scavengers, and herbivores. They eat algae, plants, and sometimes o'opu, Hawaii's endemic fish.

Tilapia was introduced to Hawaii to eat up our aquatic weeds in reservoirs, ditches, and canals. Instead, the Tilapia grew in such large numbers that instead of eating our aquatic weeds, they started to eat our local fishes."

- Taken from http://library.thinkquest.org/J0110028/present/waterlife/talapia/tilapia.htm

Essentially Hawaii streams are mostly heavily polluted, you can get stuff like leptospirosis and other skin type diseases

So eating a Tilapia out of a stream in Hawaii isn't so hot

Thus Tilapia gets a pretty bad rep amongst Hawaii people, although when I was growing up I knew some people would still eat it

can't be any worse than balut, lol.

wait, so is fresh water tilapia in general considered rubbish b/c it's a scavenger fish, or is this just limited to tilapia swimming in polluted waters?
arn't most non-farm raised shellfish and catfish also scavengers? by that reasoning, we should avoid that as well?

Tilapia swimming in Hawaii's polluted streams = not a good idea to eat

Farm raised tilapia sold in your local supermarket = fine to eat

Long story short, people in Hawaii are used to the idea that Tilapia is a "dirty" fish for eating

Easy and fun to catch though

I was going to say that's about MSRP and you can 'probably' still get that size.

Being that they were not used/mounted he is probably having either buyer's remorse, didn't fit or spent more than he could afford.

Since it's CL, he is trying to ward off the 100+ people from the states asking if he can do $400 shipped to New York or worse Canada :)

Not many people are price saavy out there. He may have got raped on the buy and just not know.

That said...a seller should never get offended with any offer unless the buyer is adding stupid stuff like "Hey I am really trying to help you here, these wheels are being sold for $500 new right now at my buddy's shop. If you can do them for $475 shipped I will paypal you tonight...just don't tell my buddy."

I used to make a living buying and selling network equipment. I was surprised many times by someone accepting my low offer and occasionally even getting bonus items.

As a seller you set your price. If you get it be happy...if you find out later you set it too low, don't sweat it as you got your price.

You win some, you lose some.
