sr20det problem

Yesterday, my brother's blacktop sr20det started to do a weird noise, something like clack clack clack clack, seems to come from somewhere underneith the valve cover, maybe the valve, but I've never heard this noise the day before. Also, I disconected the 2 hoses from the L/H side of the valve cover, and a white smoke is going out off the 2 end?? What is the problem, and do you think the engine is scrape? cause he bought the Silvia from a JDM dealer 1 week ago...

Could be a couple of things....
I'm not to sure why there would be white smoke.

Rod Knock
Cams not receiving enough oil.

Take off the valve cover and examine what it looks like.

what can cause smoke going out of the valve cover breather?

Yeah you can have a stuck valve or broken rocker...take the valve cover off and stop running the engine.
