i'm having a big problem deciding on which brand of subs to get. i've wanted some infinitys for a while now, but a friend who bought a 240... got them. i guess i kinda referred him to them, but what do you guys think? whatever brand of sub i get, i'ma get the same brand speaker. i've got the amp crissis figured out... they're on the way. but what do you guy think will be the best single 12'' sub? let me hear you're opinons. thanks

what size amps did you buy? the infinity's require a good bit of power. But you can't go wrong with them.. they are

they are rated at ~350 watts RMS, but will easily handle 600 watts RMS.

btw - I have two of them I will sell you if you want.. I bought them after TONS of research, and decided to turn my car into a track car after I bought them.. of course subs have no place in a track toy. email me if you want'em, they are still BRAND NEW in the plastic in the box...

um... audiophiles correct me if I'm incorrect, but isn't infinity and polk manufactured in the same facility and just labelled differently? I could be thinking of another brand, but I'm pretty sure it was polk...

Infinity is Harmon Kardon. Harmon Kardon produces JBL, Infinity, and of course Harmon Kardon products..

I believe Polk is a seperate company...

well, i beleive i'm going to buy reference speakers and a 12'' sub, due to the fact i already have a single box and i have insignifficant funds... yeah anything will be better than my "titanium faced" jensen sub.

I say Infinity Kappa Perfect. I own 2 of them and they are very clean, and pretty loud. For the price of a Infinity Reference sub, I would get a Polk DX sub, but if you have enuf for a Perfect, I say get the perfect. And btw, any round 12" sub will fit into any enclosure meant for a 12" sub.

OK, as for infiniti and Polk, infiniti speakers seem to have a "crisper" sound than polk, which I would compare to a pioneer while the sound of an infiniti speaker would be much less "washed out" (let me add that I have a set of polks and LOVE them, just depends on your tastes) On that note, the sub is a different story, if you are going to by an infiniti perfect, more power to you, it is one of the best sounding sbs I have ever heard, but if you are going to go with the reference series I would suggest something else. Personally I am not impressed with the entry line subs for either infiniti nor polk, so if the cheep route is the one you are going I would suggest neither, and personally would try to find an entry level JL to go with. Matching up the brand of subs and speakers is one thing if you are going to be showing the car, or if you are sponcered or something, but if you are looking for the best overall sound for less money, you may need to hit up a couple different companies in your system.

I agree.
I was pretty unimpressed with my friend's reference speakers in his s14 (also with 10" reference sub). my Kappa 4x6's and MTX sub sounded much better :/

If price is that much of an issue, try scouting ebay... I got 2 sets of 4x6 infinity kappas for $90, new! and my MTX blue thunder sub for $12 hehee

I've got Infinity Kappas for my mids and highs, and a Sony subwoofer (that's the next thing to get replaced ). Very good shit, but it's starving trying to feed from the power of my deck.
