ka tranny will not come off lol

alright me and my friend have been in the garage for the last 2 hours trying to get the input shaft to unspline from the motor of a ka. the motor is out of the car, ive taken ka transmissions off before this has never happened to me before. ive been prying and jerking the tail end of the tranny and accomplished nothing tonight. anyone ever have this problem before??? wtf.

ive had 4 burly men ripping on this fuckin thing for hours. i dont have a socket big enough tonight but i figure maybe turn the motor over and jerk the splines a bit????

yea, ive only had to resort to that a couple times... get 2 guys shimmying/pulling on the trans and someone else turning the crank pully back and forth and usually that does the trick.

stick a crowbar/ pry bar/ fatty flathead screwdriver in from the top. pry away. works everytime. ive never had a problem getting a transmission off.

weve actually got it far enough away from the engine to wear we can spin the transmission 360 degrees and it still wont come off weve got bars and mayhem everywhere

I had one do that too a few months ago. The clutch disc was jammed on the input shaft, how I have no idea but it's almost like it stripped the hub. I had to unbolt the pressure plate off the flywheel and drop the clutch with the transmission, then use a 4jaw puller to get the clutch off the shaft. Once it came off everything was fine, the shaft wasn't bent or damaged and a new disc slid right on fine, I even sold the transmission to a guy who's been driving on it ever since.

So ya, grab a ratchet wrench, reach in through the gap, and pull the pressure plate off. Then you can play with getting the clutch off.

the gap wasint big enough to un bolt the clutch so after much frustration i made my own gap. notched it with a sawzawl and then sledge hammer. unbolted the clutch and the tranny came right off. had to have that KA in a car asap so tonight i will put it in. i havint even tried taking the clutch off yet but i will be using that tranny with an sr bell housing anyway. thanks anyway guys!!

fuck yeah, 3 nights after work KA swap. started up first try tonight, found a car with a blown motor on its way to the junkyard. friend bought it and we put my old KA in it. great times in the garage with my friends. even the sledge hammered out bell housing.
