Greetings everyone! Hope everyone's Thankgiving (for all it may apply to) went pretty well!
I registered here, but thought I'd not be rude, so I will introduce myself.
name's Eric. I don't own a 240SX, however, I will be selling my 2002 Spec V this spring and purchasing an S14 240.
Especially after all the troubles I'm having with it... going to be in the shop for about 3 weeks with no loaner car for the trans, then I'll be bringing it back soon after for a new engine because the car has 11,000 miles on it and it still burns almost a quart and a half of oil every 3,000 miles. That'll be ANOTHER 3 weeks. Among other small things.
Plus, I don't want the big car payment anymore, the glitz and glamour of a brand new car has already worn off (aka I don't care anymore), and I'd much rather do my own work on my car instead of some of these clueless Nissan service guys.
Unless some sort of special circumstance arises, this is a fact.
Preferrably a 97+, for the restyled front. Good luck finding one, right? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>
I like both the S13, and S14 equally well... maybe I'll just buy a cheap used S13 as a daily driver. Who knows.
An acquaintance and fellow Spec V owner local to me's girlfriend owns a beautiful red 240... and I've honestly never seen an S14 up close before... but I checked it out finally last week... sat in it... looked it over really well... and fell in love with the car even more.
For the moment... I'll be living vicariously through other 240SX owners' experiences, while I lurk and constantly research and debate whether my car gets a CA18, SR20, or if I'm going to turbo the KA24. The front clip purchase (or turbo parts purchase, for the KA) will take place if not when the car is purchased, then within a year of it's purchase.
That's about all... I frequent 240SX.org as well, make regular appearances on B15sentra.net, and am a moderator on the B15 SE-R specific theVboard.com
Have a good one! Enjoy your beautiful, underappreciated 240s

No, I try my best to check over archives and FAQs and stuff before I post... believe me... I have my fair share of newbie posts to sift through on the other forum <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dozingoff.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>
I research my stuff. It's more interesting anyhow, as once you find your info.. it's all there and you can enjoy reading it instead of trying to anticipate responses.
BTW, the current best possible prospect I have right now is a winter-garaged white 97 240SX SE. I swore after I sold my 94 Probe GT to never own a white car again (because the little rust dots started to drive me nuts, looked dirty too quickly, etc... bah perfectionism) and on most cars, white looks bad. However, it doesn't look bad at all on a 240.
In which case, I may skip the S14 Silvia shield badging altogether, slap on the S15 badges, and call it "White Lightning" <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

she shouldn't... oil consumption on early production models (mine was Feb 02 so it's considered an early build) was the result of bad piston rings. Early-early builds were helped by pre-cats breaking up and sucking sediment and junk back into the combustion chamber during valve overlap vacuum, thus scoring cylinder walls. 2003 rings are revised.
Transmission is leagues above, beyond, and past the '02 tranny... but she shold still watch it. Might want to change to MTL90 (I believe) if you live in a colder climate, for winter... and it has overall better viscosity than the junk in the trans case now.

Welcome to the forums. Glad to see someone doing their homework. People sometimes jump all over the newbies, but its great to see someone willing to learn and have a good time, and feel the spirit.
Hope you find the car you are looking for. I certainly did. Good Luck!

Well, as dumb as it may sound... what actually started me on 240's was Chris May's s14a ... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> ( did I loose 'cool-points' for saying that? <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> ) -but I didn't say "oh dude it's got 400hp man I'm gonna go get one!".
I appreciated the styling more than anything.. because 240's are VERY uncommon in Southeast Michigan. I mean. VERY. You hardly EVER see them. So I truthfully didn't know what an S14 really looked like, or even an S13 for that matter.
Once I saw it though, I looked around for more pictures... and I read up on what it was about, found out what the foreign market equivalents were, it's legacy in foreign markets, what "purpose(s)" the car was built for, etc ... and grew to like the vehicle. After seeing Heather's 240 in person a few weeks ago at our first local Spec V meet, I absolutely finally fell into real love with the car. Although I didn't get a chance to drive it, from what I've heard from others... it should elicit feelings I got from the 94 Probe GT I owned. Very good feelings. I regret to this day ever selling that car, and although I'll probably never own one again, it holds a special place in my memory.
Why I own 4 door vehicle #2, aside from better insurance rates, I don't know... I like coupes and hatchbacks far better <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
AceInHole - hey now, don't try to influence me <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> I can just see it now... being goaded by someone from the CA crowd, and the KA crowd, and the SR crowd... all trying to pull me to their camp lol <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
Thanks for the warm welcome! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':sly:'>

Nonono, sorry bout the confusion. Turbofour is simply a local speedshop specializing in Imports. I was simply giving you a few examples of the cars there. Mine just happen to be two of them, of course as mentioned before I sold one because I can't afford both. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> yeah Detroit is about 3 hrs and 45 min. or so. Sometimes visit either for the car show or to go to Windsor...hehe. Never take my car though <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I'm baaaaaaack :D Just over a year later too
Big long story, but the Spec will be gone next week once the 240 is in satisfactory condition. I'm finalizing the deal on an S13 hatch this afternoon. $350 car needs some TLC, but it's a 240... and it'll get me where I need to go
Looks like I can finally be here in the legit :x: ;)

Glad to be a 240 owner finally :)

Not that I will have the money for it for at least a year anyhow, this won't be my mod car. Most of the reason being it's an non-LSD car, and I don't feel like going through a rear end swap. :faint:

I've never worked on the rear end of a car before for anything other than rotating tires, and I havent' owned a RWD car since I was 16. It looks and sounds more complicated than it really is, eh?

Yeah old thread, that was wierd I was reading it and im like how is a 2002 Spec V a new car, and then I realized the date at the top of the thread was from 2K, oh well.....yeah LSD isn't that bad of a swap, my friend did it most of it alone and I only helped him with the little parts of it.
