Hey guys,

I run a small online performance parts store that's just about to open next week.. anyway, I'm in the process of getting rid of my daily driver and replacing it with what will become the first project car for my business.

I've spent the past year looking over just about any kind of car you can imagine and changing my mind constantly because I can't seem to find something that fits all of my criteria.

I've got a limited budget to get started, and I need something that can both have plenty of peformance *and* good looks/sillyness. After all, the idea is to grab people's attention as well as have an all around performer.

I keep thinking about the Silvia but I had myself convinced it was a car that I'd love to have if I had the money for a couple of cars.. but lately I don't know. I'm sitting at the office at midnight on Thanksgiving working, and I plopped open a Super Street that was sitting on my desk to entertain myself for a second, and there was a badass mother of a Silvia..

First of all, for any of you guys who've seen that, I'm assuming that's an S15. It's a RHD and all.. Can some of those misc parts (such as the lights on that car.. not sure if they're stock or aftermarket, but either way they look wicked) and so on be retrofitted onto an S14?

I noticed that while there were no specs listed, in the technical area of this site there are 2 sections for the S14 based on years. Are there significant differences between the 96-97 S14 and the older ones?

It's my understanding that the JDM Silvia has an SR20DET and the S15 has a 6 speed transmission.. I know I've seen some SR20DET swaps, but will the 6 speed transmission be an "easy" replacement as well? Does anyone have some numbers they could throw at me about cost of the engine swap and transmission swap from their experience?

Are there any things you wish were different about your S14, or that you dislike? I honestly can't think of a thing wrong with the car, but if somebody has an issue I'd really appreciate it being brought to my attention (and yes, you can still really like you car and have a problem with something).

I guess that's really about it. The car fits all of my wants.. RWD, forced induction, coupe.. if an S14 can be made to look anything like the S15 in this magazine damn sexy <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> and of course there's plenty of aftermarket.

Thanks guys. Sorry for the stupid questions.

ok lots of qs
welcome

the s15 headlights can be put on the s14. use the search function on that and look at

autoimaging.com for the prices (body kit section/jspec) after that.
also loo at jspec.com

yes the 6 speed tranny and engine can be put in any 240sx. just takes money. cost? engine might run 6K and if you do the labor yourself a bit more and if you paysomeone maybe 2K depends on who and their charges. look to pay at least 7K for all i would say is safe

s14 generation is 2 in the USA.
95/96 has the round style headlights (zenki generation)
97/98 has the "sharkeye" (kouki generation)
they are basically the same car minus the visual differences.

only the s15 came with a 6speed tranny
go to
www.srswap.com for info all ALL the engines

s14 is more sedanish on a feel compared with the s13 (89-93 years).

that's about it.
