So I just picked up a 91 coupeSE last month and I bought it with the CEL on. I finally got around to running the codes on my ECU and It threw: 21 and 32. My concern is 32, E EGR?
I know its in EC-117 in the FSM. my problem is i left my FSM back home in VA.
Can anyone help me, or even point me in the direction of a free online FSM?

I was told by a friend that the E EGR code 32 is not dealing with the mechanical EGR, its an electrical issue?
also code 21 came up which is Signal circuit ignition. Maybe these two issues are related?
i doubt how they would be, but Electrical shit is like greek to me.
IF anyone can point me in the right direction itd be much appreciated.

what engine? When I had my KA24DE, the vacuum line under the EGR was cracked because it was old. As soon as I replaced that vacuum line the code did not come back. Make sure you check all the vacuum lines to the EGR.

uh fsm states this about code 32

EGR valve does not operate.
(EGR valve spring does not lift.)

and says to check:
EGR valve and canister control valve

KA24DE. Ill def go and check the vacuum line tomorrow morning, but i was assuming the problem was electrical for some reason.
Plus my car passed smog.
Thanks for your input. will check tomorrow.

nice, i hope its as easy as removing and cleaning the EGR. that would be great.
thanks for the advice.

if the check engine light is on, it will automatically fail the smog test. i have code 32 also. i just reset the code 5 mins ago n im hoping the code wont come back but we'll see. gotta drive it around 2 kno 4 sure.

I had the same issue but mine was because I actually removed all EGR components and plugged the port for it. I research it and found that all it takes is $2 resistor from RadioShack wired to the EGR temp sensor and no more EGR codes. Resistor acts as normal load fooling the ECU that all is good on the EGR system side. GL

Same here. Mine came back right after one trip around the block.

Only on OBD-II cars. If the test is just a sniffer then the CEL doesn't matter, most places don't even look for it.

Not the case here in Cali.
