I just finished watching the SCCA Valvoline Runoffs the GT II class.  I have been searching the web to find information on the #3 240sx driven by Bud Matakaetis, but haven't found anything but pictures.  I want to know why it is in GT II instead of maybe GT III or IV?  It finished in 10th place i think and a lap down, because it was highly underpowered compared to the porsche's and 300zx's.
In the GT classes is it possible to swap out the KA24DE for a VG30DE?  It will through off the weight ratio a bit, but will gain more power potential.  Let me know your opinions

According to SCCA Classification (http://toyota.shults.com/cgi-bin/scca/scca.cgi) the 240 is in GT2 or 3 ("GT2: 240-280Z eng.).  So you were close.  300zx is GT1 or GT2.

Does that mean you can use the Ka24 or the vg28 (not sure of the engine code)?  It would make it a little more competative if you used the 280Z engine.  What I was really searching for was, what modifications had been done to the engine?  It really killed me to see it drop so far behind everyone else and almost finished two laps down.

SIDE NOTE:  WE NEED A MOTORSPORT FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is the L24 - L28. &nbsp;280 engine would no doubt be better - repeat after me - THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT FOR DISPLACEMENT (and don't give me that turbo crap b/c if you turbo the larger motor, it is still faster <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> &nbsp;). &nbsp; To find out the mods, you need the GCR.
