Hey guys ive got a 3" straight through magnaflow and some mandrel bends to make an exhaust.
my problem is that every exhaust shop i got to wont work on an exhaust with no cats.
i could buy a cat and have them put it on then replace with a test pipe but im scrounging for cash so i dont really want to buy a cat.
if anyone knows of shop that can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Wade

You're going to have to really be lucky to find an exhaust shop that does that... Some performance shops will do it. Are you taking you're car to them and telling them to make one and slap it on there? I just took one of mine in pieces (from cat back) and had them weld it up.

If you can get your car trailered to the shop they'll be more willing to help. Just keep them under the impression that it's not a street vehicle.

at SDP we made customers sign an agreement that says they acknowledge that some of the work we do is not street legal and transporting the car to and from the shop is their resposnsibility. that way if they drove away from the shop with no cat, it's all on them.
too bad more shops don't do that

That's the way to do it, put a number or two on it or just write your last four in the back glass.
As long as the shop can say they thought it was an off-road vehicle they aren't on the hook for emissions defeat.
Or just have the run it to the factory spot and pick up a cheap test pipe.

Move to Utah.
The exhaust shop there made me a custom exhaust without a cat. No questions asked.

both shops i been to let me do it. not to be messed up but, try the hispanic shops. they dont really care
where you from? over here in socal i dont think they care.
i but i would run a test pipe with a heatshield so cops dont check your cat all the time...

Yeah, I had a 3" exhaust made up back in the day, from the downpipe back, but on the last one I included the test pipe w/heat shield just in case you get a cop that wants to peek under there. I've never heard of a muffler shop not wanting to make something with no cat, but hey, I guess I just go to the right places (and pay cash :) )
