brake piston

my friend and i are working on his s13
and his rear brake piston fell out
its not really going back in

any expert advice?

it wont go back in? well knowing that the ebrake assembly is incorporated into the caliper I doubt that it will do back in. if it fell out that means that the square cut o-ring has probably shriveled and cracked. get a new one about 80 bucks at autozone or a used one 20 bucks from a junk yard or maybe cheaper from a fellow zilvian. they aren't rebuildable.

well it is now back in
but wont depress any farther than it was originally

when i changed my brakes i was able to spin the piston clockwise and it just kinda screwed itself in

but this one is being tricky

any other little tricks out there?

Remove the cap off the brake reservoir.... THe rears you should turn it with a needle nose plier while pushing... Its in the FSM. Read it. You can also get a square tool from any autoparts store and put it on a ratchet... MUCH MUCH Easier.

dont forget to open the cap on the master cylinder and the bleeder screw on the caliper

get one of the square brake tools and compress clockwise

sounds like your caliper is almost seized up. Try turning it and pressing it in at the same time.

Bleeder screw? wtf you thinking.... you will introduce air if you open the bleeder screw open to air...

if the piston is not going down even with the brake reservoir open then yeah open up the bleeder. Yes air will probably get in but you might as well bleed the brakes anyhow

yah.... but you can push the piston in without that...
