for a s13 sr: what is the difference between the m spec and the vspl? is it the size? if so, what are the measurements? anything else might be different? thanks

Vspec is made of tube and fin and usually for aftermarket turbo set up. Doesn't handle as much hp as the Rspec one.

Mspec has also been replaced by the LS spec.

I forgot the ranges of hp.

Here's description I got off of Option imports.
M-SPEC intercooler from GReddy has the size of a R-SPEC intercooler, and flows like a V-SPEC intercooler. The all new GReddy M-SPEC intercooler is now available for Nissan Silvia S13 SR or S14 SR applications. M-SPEC intercooler kit comes complete with piping. The ends of the cores are TIG-welded and capped off with smooth flowing heavy-duty cast aluminum GReddy polished end tanks. i installed the spec-LS kit on mine a few weeks ago. i can definately recommend this kit. fitment was awesome, the kit includes everything you need (well, except for a hole saw ;) ) and everything lined up just perfectly. the only things i found negative were: piping not polished, hotpipe not included, silicone couplers are only 2-layered, but do the job.
