Was just looking around for turbo manifolds for my s14 sr20, and just wanted other opinions on good aftermarket manifolds that don't relocate the turbo somewhere else. I'd like to have it chill in the "stock" position. If you guys know any please let me know. Thank you.

I wouldn't suggest a equal length turbo mani if you are drifting or daily... They are more for top end.. Causing u to lose alot of bottom end torque which sucks for drifting or daily driving... The tomei and ichiba are stock length keeping bottom end torque while increasing mid-range and top end.. Do to the beefier tubing...

I'd stick with stock, i'm pushing out ~320whp with it... I've had a Tomei manifold installed on my SR, and the bloody thing cracked on the dyno... It's upto you, but i don't see the point unless your going top mount. There's a guy on here that is using the stock manifold "extrude & honed" and is pushing 400whp. (goes by Cody ACE).

Tomei is a good manifold, but i dont like that you can't use an External Wastegate on it.

I will NOT purchase the megan racing or DC manifold, but just wondering if they still keep the turbo in the "stock" position.

i just bought my tomei manifold and turbo elbow last thursday and it just arrived today. they are a little expensive but with all the things they include, it worths it. 7 layers manifold gasket and all other turbo gasket, all the new bolts and stuff, they are just perfect and quality made. i bought it from a guy on here, he is still doing a special for $715 shipped, tomei manifold and turbo elbow. they also have a 1 year warranttee, they'll give u a new one if it cracks. good luck. i cant wait to put them on.

I remember reading in one post awhile back, that there were a few ppl with cracked tomei manifolds..then again that was an old post, and equally long time ago...

Anywho, the usual argument with cracking manifolds is that they happen regardless of brand, and that IRREGARDLESS OF BRAND; And having a downpipe with flex section, and maybe some other reinforcement for the manifold it self might help with giving it some extra life..hope this helps...

btw, i have the megan and i think it rocks for the price IMHO...

I don't know i'm quite skeptical about this whole stainless steel tubular manifold stuff... Personally its just a cosmetic thing just to show that you have a fancy 'tube' under the hood. From experience its just not as strong as the Stock Cast Iron Manifold period! I'm a Process Piping Designer/Draftsman and from actually seeing the W.T (wall thickness) of the tubular manifold, just makes me laugh! I believe Full-Race is the only company that is using Sch.40 material (I could be wrong) and actually has a decent wall thickness... I'm just put off with the tubular manifold in todays market. I keep saying this again, the Tomei Manifold is designed from the Stock! They even say it in writing, just looks pretty... Good luck!

i got the ichiba one and it works nice. it's got the typical discoloration and surface rust is starting but no cracking or leaking. don't wrap it either. that helps crack it. i've never had a problem w/ my brake fluid and i drive mine like an ass everyday so i don't think it an issue w/ the stock location manifolds. good luck.

as far as a stock location, street worthy manifold...im going with everyone else on this and suggesting the tomei. I'm running a megan manifold right now and am switching soon to the expreme manifold and outlet. I've installed both and both have amazing quality and come with all OEM gaskets, etc.

the gaskets, etc, can easily run you 100-150 alone....so its actually not that bad of a price for what you're getting.

for what it's worth i'm running an ebay "xs power" stainless mani and have not had any problems. i drive the shit out of my sr and have no complaints. it's like 100 bucks. if that cracks, just weld it back, if your tomei 6 million dollar manifold cracks, you can reweld it, but isn't htat why you paid that much for quality. but why the eff is everyone's tomei manifold breaking?

either way you go, if it's a tubular mani, spend a little extra and wrap your manifold with DEI exhaust wrap. the difference in heat under your hood is phenomenal, plus it looks cool, i have some pics in one of my threads.

When I was shopping exhaust manifolds for my SR, I saw so many cracked SS manifolds from all different brands. This was before Tomei became popular so I didn't see any cracked Tomei.

I decided to go with stock manifold and ported/coated. Just my opinion.

Sorry for bringing up a semi-old post, but I'd ward everyone off from that ebay bullshit. Mine cracked in 3 places. all the away around the flanges around the #1 and #2 tubes AND around the flange that connects to the turbo. Shitty stuff. I'm borrowing a Megan right now thats doing fine but my Tomei is supposed to be in tomorrow :bigok:

I took my wrap off because it got some oil on it and caught on fire while power braking at a stop light, when the light turned green I took off and thought the smoke from the tires would clear, but it kept coming. pulled over and lifted the hood to find my wrap burning(scared the sh!t out of me) put it out and cut it off when I got home. I just got a brake heat and have had no problems for a year now.

What about keeping to much heat in and cause the mani to crack?
