Haha, yeah. With a nice drop and wheels, they do look 10x better. I love that white one with the black rims w/ white lip, that contrast is hot.

I like the Mk.5 GTi a lot. It makes a great fun daily driver. It's suspension well sorted out. It's sporty but also very comfortable. The base 22k price is reasonable, but it can get out of hand if you option accordingly. mpg is also not too bad at 31 hwy. the dsg is also very good if you need an auto.

Overall I think it's a great choice, IF you can work on the car and/or you know mechanic who does. In my experience, VW is notorious for some of the worst servicing and reliability. Or you could spend a bit more and get an Audi A3 instead.

That dogma was mainly the fault of the MKIV, the newer ones are decent...Dealer service still sucks balls though.

Taking ugly wheels (not always... BBS LM) and then staggering them on a slow FWD car is about as lame as it gets.

That said, I wouldn't mind a stock GTI w/ DSG for a daily if the reliability actually isn't garbage anymore.
