When I took out my fan clutch why did coolant go back to the reservoir? The temp gauge maxed to the hot zone and the reservoir over flowed with coolant. I need some help from my fellow zilvia peps. Ty O yeah I already tried researching in google. Couldnt find info. Motor is Ka24de off a 91 240

Honestly, I just went back to stock fan, because my electric one sucked balls... with my stock fan I run under 80 celcius, and with the electric one, I was lucky to keep it under 100. If you have the right electric fans, then its cool, but those are pricey!

Not exactly for your question, but I hope it helps.

:stupid: did you take off your clutch fan and not install e-fans? Of course it will overheat unless you have a fan that moves enough CFM to keep the water cool...

lol.

Such a troll like post from the OP.

The car won't overheat without a clutch fan unless the car isn't moving.

You prob cooked your engine. Better check it out.

same thing happened to me.
electric fans stayed above 190 degrees and didnt work properly
stock fan keeps it at about 150. :eek3:

here to being in az i had a nice set of electrics, ran those had over heating problems drifting and daily driving. i put 1 of the fans in the center of the rad and put a new shroud and clutch fan back on, PERFECTO! runs so much better and when i does get warmer out side i got the electric to help cool me as well.

You know clutch fan > elec fan.

uhhh

i have my altima fans...and they kept my motor wayy cooler than my clutch fan..

what type of fan do you have?

Simple fact is 95% of all electrical fans flow less air then the stock fan and are therefore worse performing. Can you use them ?? Yes. Do a lot of people use them with no problems ? Yes. Would I suggest it.... No. With the facts at hand, why would you want to risk it.

Most CFM ratings for e-fans are at Zero Static pressure. Meaning while the fan is not pulling or pushing air through a heat exchanger or another obstical. So that 2000 CFM fan could actually be around 1500 cfm when placed on the radiator and will also pull more current.

Read up on the CFM tests and come back later.

high: ~1500 cfm, Amp draw ~22.5A
for the altima...i didnt see the cfm for the clutch fan...

but just from personal experience..i have never had problems with my motor getting too hot.

Having tried out and tested different configurations of fans and rads, I can say that with a good rad and a good fan clutch, it will cool the car no problem. I can also say that all e-fans are NOT created the same. OE e-fans are far superior IMO to stuff like FAL. The altima fans we tested blew the FAL 210s out of the water.
Either way, to the OP, i think that if you pegged the stock gauge into the red, you have more to worry about than the fan. It is highly likely that you may have damaged a head gasket as red is very hot.

to the OP, if you put on EFans... What kind did you put on? Are they spinning the right direction? Did you wire them in with their own fuses and relays straight off the battery? Make sure that they are sealed up against the radiator as close as you can get them. I had that issue with my altima fans overheating the KA, but it was because they moved 1/4 to 1/2" away from the radiator which kills their ability to cool the water... They need to be pressed tight against the rad... GL

Also make sure you bled the radiator properly to get all the air out of your cooling system, or you'll overheat regardless of your fan setup.

I've used altima fans for 3+ years in the Vegas and LA heat without any overheating problems. Clutch fan with a shroud supposedly flows a little better, but you should be fine with altima fans...

I remember one guy he took off the clutch fan and he was like... "my car is overheating", I wondered why lol... this was stock KA. The electric fans all suck, the only one worthwhile is a used taurus fan.. those are nice and big with lots of flow.
