I've stripped many bolts before, the major ones were on the drive shaft mount, and the transmission crossmember. If you just screwed in a wrong size bolt or somthing like that, you should be able to unscrew it and it would carve its own new threads, just like a tap would.

However if you tightened a bolt by mistake when you were trying to loosen it and it just over-tightened and won't come out now, your best bet is to drill it out. Just get a drill bit that is smaller than the bolt and be patient and drill straight down the bolt. It should slowly disintegrate it into peices. Then run a tap through it a couple times and put a new bolt in there.

*EDIT* Just re-read the post and see you stripped a NUT not a bolt. Correct answers are located below for nuts. Vice grips should go the trick.

Cut them off and get another diff cover.

So you've got an S13, I take it. Vise grips might be able to get 'em off (after spraying with some PB Blaster for good measure), or do what Flybert said and cut them off (and then get a new cover).

The studs on the back of a S13 will unscrew out of the cover.
When I pulled my diff out the last time, one of the studs came out with it.
You may be able to get the stripped ones to come out with some visegrips and then juse find a bolt that will screw into the cover.

So the nuts are still attached and are spinning but not backing off?

If that is the case I had the same problem. What I did was drill a hole straight through the nut and the stud, insert a nail to lock the two together, then turned the nut to back out the entire stud. Upon reinstall I simply used bolts.
