so i was being irresponsible going faster than the speed limit, i know i am probably the only person on this site who has done that... anyways i got a ticket for 57 in a 35, the vehicle code the cop wrote me up for says that the speed was unsafe for the conditions, which might i saw i was the only car on a 6 lane road ... google map olympic blvd / century park west... so long story short.. i get the fine in the mail, they want $991.00 for it.. anyone know why its more than a redlight camera ticket? i had a clean driving record til this...

damn son thats almost a G you gotta fork! GL! TAKE IT TO COURT! HIRE A FREE LAWYER. I had an offense of running a school bus! Took it to court and got a free lawyer, all charges dropped cuz fed didnt show up.
Haha thats fucked up but I been there. I got a ticket going to Vegas for almost the same price. Go to court and hope he doesn't show up its your best bet, or hire a lawyer who doesn't get paided unless you win. The one with this policy are slim but I rather give it to the lawyer than getting point on your license thus increasing insurance.
I got a unsafe for conditions for driving the speed limit when it was raining. It all depends on certain factors I guess. Usually the Cops will tell you why they stop you and citing you. Whether you agree is a different story.

WOW that sucks. almost a g for a ticket. You were going 22 over the speed limit and isnt anything over 20 considered wreckless driving. Maybe thats why your ticket is so much. speeding + wreckless driving cant be cheap.

that law differs by state... in west virginia, it's either 30 over or double the speed limit, whichever comes first... I.E. 50 in a 25 or 75 in a 45...

I think every mile after the speed limit they add a certian amout of money. The fines just went up not too long ago.. =\. as for the unsafe condition, was the road dry? any construction ahead? if not, you might want to bring that up and tell the judge you were the only one in a 6-lane street. It's really the officer's definition of unsafe condition.
What did he cite you for? just speeding and wreckless driving?

did you not have your insurance, reg, or license without you? Once I got a speeding ticket w/out bringing my insurance info with me. fine was like $1,200. That was doing 97 in a 70 on the 5 freeway (from Norcal to Socal). After I proved to court I had insurance, the fine dropped to $400.
This was in CA too, but I didn't get a reckless driving ticket. sometimes it's up to the discretion of the cop, but i very much doubt a G ticket would be for speeding alone.

you can request to reduce fee in the court day, in the worst scenerio.
i think it is so expensive because you were driving 63% over speed limit, so that is consider reckless driving

Oh yeah, try to extend the court date to as far as possible. Lest chance of the officer remembering what happened/showing up. Goodluck man.

Though there are some cases where the cop will not show for a ticket, most times they'll be there. They get paid to show up and do nothing in an air conditioned court, it's their job. Again, this doesn't mean you shouldn't HOPE he doesn't, but chances are he will.

What the fuck was the condition??? Like stated, was it a construction or school zone? Were you drifting on this 6 lane road?!?! Seems like theres more to this story than what you want it to sound like...

i got caught one early morning after partying and work doing 54 in a 35 zone didn't even realize that i was going that fast. Thought i dont think i was going that fast but was too tired to say anything to the cop. He probably just had to meet his quota. anyways got the ticket in the mail and it was 240. and 50 more for traffic school. so i believe its roughly $10 per mi/hour over the speed limit is what i figure. so. i was 19 over not racing or doing anything out of the ordinary. Fucken cop! I was half asleep haha.

sucks. well, get a couple extensions and then when you go to court, tell the judge to please lower the fine because you simply cannot afford it. just the stress of trying to think of a way to pay it has made this a lesson learned. bla bla bla. well good luck with that (although you did break the law)

Whew that is rough. Definitely lawyer worthy or at least learn about defending yourself. PM me if you want the story about how my friend got his speeding ticket dropped. You just gotta punch holes in the cop's story.

If you go to court, request to get it lowered. Talk to the judge about it, tell him you really can't afford to pay such a high price maybe question why it is so high for a speeding ticket?

I just got a speeding ticket two days ago. 68 in a 35. I've never had a speeding ticket before ever.
Sad part is I wasn't even driving my 240sx, I was driving my dads Ford Ranger (automatic eww). I was going with the flow of traffic because no one on that road does the speed limit. Since I never drive my dads truck I wasn't aware of my speed (I always know the speed in my car based on rpm sound and current gear I'm in)...
So the unmarked F150 picked me out of the bunch and I don't even have a fine amount yet, I have to go directly to court.
