A full tuned Japanese car supposedly around 700hp, blew the engine when the oil pump died. The pistons made contact contact with the cyl wall and the bearing on the first rod journal was scored (burned). All of the other journals are perfect. The first rod was blued but is okay since it rides on bearings. The Japanese shop said the scored journal is within spec although I recommend having it polished which should be no more than $100. The pistons may be usable or may able to be repaired.
The stock crank on the SR20 is not forged, the JUN crank is. There is a certain amount of hp the stock crank can not handle, I don't know how much. The forged crank is necessary for very high hp engines. The extra .2L of displacement and extra stroke will make the bottom end much more powerful. Also the stock crank does not have full counterbalances. The JUN crank has full counterbalances and is stable at much higher rpms. JUN sells this kit for 450,000yen or about $4200 before the 5% tax. The crank alone is $2500. They do not export these to the US either.
The cost is $2000 OBO (reasonable offers) Please email me with any questions or offers you may have: [email protected]
