Problems with my SR tranny

I have a s13 redtop in a s14, I am having problems going into reverse and sometimes 1st gear, After trying a couple times it normally selects into reverse, but i would haveto move the car and mess around with it. This is only intermittent it doesnt happen all the time. I was wondering if my tranny is going bad or clutch or what might be possible problems............tried searching. thanks

Seriously though, your master and/or slave cylinder might be on their way out. Or maybe you have air in the line and you need to bleed the clutch. Have you checked the fluid?

its kinda normal, mine does it for reverse somtimes.

But all i do is just left off the clutch and try it again, or pull it in the reverse direction while slowly letting off the clutch until the gears mesh

my buddy had a problem with his 1st in his 180sx he literally had to force it into gear

It's common, I know for a fact there's no air in my lines (Datsun 510 KA swapped), and it does it for the KA's as well. First and reverse, it'll almost resist and then kinda pop into first/reverse if you let off the clutch a hair.

Annoying, but such is the life of Nissan ownership!

Its pretty normal for all 5 gear trannies... Very normal....

Except now that everyone else is posting, I realize "oh yeah, first and reverse are always a little tougher to get into gear anyway." :doh:

Go ahead and check your fluid, and if it's still bothering you, go ahead and bleed the clutch and see if it helps.

Thanks guys today it didnt give any problems whatsoever. My fluid is good but i havent bled my clutch yet so i will try that. My master cylinder came from the junk yard anyway (junk)....Thanks

My SR tranny doesn't have a problem with 1st, reverse sometimes I gotta ease the clutch out with pushing it to reverse... not a big problem... my old KA tranny was a little tough with 1st gear though heh

mine seems to be lil rough on 1st and reverse as well..especially more on reverse.. i just pop the clutch out and try shiftin it in reverse again..viola.. 1st gear rarely does it...my tranny is rebuilt,nismo short shifter, new maxima clutch, good oem slave and master cylinders

Remember this... K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid, it has helped me a lot, yea check easy stuff first, slave then master. If somethings broke inside the tranny, then the longer you drive it the more shit the broken piece can screw up... My reverse is a little screwball too, i dont think reverse has syncros but i could be wrong...
