View Full Version : intake manifold removal...

hello zilvians....i have a faulty egr and there is no way to get to it without removing the intake manifold...i did my search i swear..but one quick question..is it possible to just remove the upper portion and get to it?...
Also,
i know i have to drain all my coolant and relieve fuel pressure, any other things i should look into and expect to run into during the process??...

Just had it done to my ka too. Make sure you have a 30mm wrench handy.

I don't think it's possible. the 2 outer bolts that bolt the upper and lower portion together keep it in place.
You can try removing the oil filter and pressing down to see if you could get some extra room but I really doubt it. It's not really that hard to get the whole thing out....

Just pull the whole fuel rail out, get at the 2 brackets that hold the lower portion there (then throw it away, you do not need it)

for future's sake, when I removed mine, the 2 studs that stick out of the lower portion, I removed those studs and replaced them with bolts, so if I ever need to remove my manifold again I can just remove the PCV & injectors then just pull top one off. Just double nut it to remove studs.

make sure you have your wobble extensions...this and a regular ratchet is all I used

to get more angle, I connected 3 or 4 together. Just be creative...good luck
