I assume you're talking about S13s.

The overlays for mph and kph are the same size. The needle moves the same amount. The difference is in the spacing of the printing.

If you want to make a kph cluster to read mph, you can do any one of the followings:

1) Remove the km printing and install or overlay mi printing. This is easier because you don't have to mess with any electrical component.

I assume you don't want to do this, but you really want a 180mph speedo, right?

Keeping the readout the same, you can do one of the following:

2) modify the VSS so that the pulse rate is reduced by 60% (1 mi = 1.6 km);

3) calibrate the speedo so that it will reduce needle movement by 60%;

4) buy a speedo from LS Auto: http://www.lsauto.com/products.asp

5) wire in speedohealer popular on bikes between the VSS and the gauge

#4 would probably be the easiest. #3 is doable but I'm not sure if the stock adjustment is that high. There is a thread on zeroyon and maybe elsewhere that talks about this.

#2 would be difficult to do if you want to reuse OEM stuff.

#5 I already tried. The only manufacturer I know that makes a plug in module that you can use to adjust the VSS signal before it reaches the speedo is the one that makes speedohealer. So far they do not have enough interest to make a Nissan application.

Maybe if you could get enough interest and do #5. It would be cheaper than the LS auto option, and would allow you to calibrate for gearing, diff, and wheel size changes.

PM me if you want more info on this.
