Does anyone have any good tips for rolling fenders? Pulling or even rolling techniques?
Pics would be helpful :naughty:

Get a roller, heat gun, and have someone help you. Have them heating the paint as you roll, take your time, and take several passes at it. Fronts are easy, rears are a little tougher since it 2 layers of metal spot welded together.

Search. There's a thread. I think I may have actually done one. Search fender rolling by my username

Rolling. No. Get a hammer, and torch, and a few rags.
Pulling. Yes. You'll need a roller.
Have fun.
EDIT: BAHH! Damn you for catching my in a good mood.

Go slow in the rear to avoid the stupid dent thing above the fender.

The technique i always use is.
Jack car up take the wheel off.
Heat it up with a torch a little and bang the inner lip flat with a bigass deadblow hammer.
Put wheel back on and lower the vehicle.
Position a round object between the wheel and the fender.
The lower the car is the better this works.
Depending on the size of the pull you need to accomplish, use a bigger object. Jack handle, crowbar, baseball bat, 3 inch fencepipe, etc.
Roll the car forward and back while your friend pushes down on the object.
Push harder for bigger pull.
Done.
I can fit 17x9-15 in the back like cake now.
17x9-3 tucks nicely in the front also.

Thanks guys for the insight.
Has anyone tried the newspaper method?
Putting newspaper on your tire and slowly dropping the frame over the wheel/tire making it naturally pull out?
I've seen it on some Japanese magazines...but has anyone actually tried it with luck?

Just use a fucking fender roller. Seriously. Anything else is cheaping out on the MOST EXPENSIVE part of your car....the chassis.
They are reasonable to buy and cheap as fuck to rent. If you are anywhere near sd, pm me and i'll rent you mine for cheap....just so i dont have to see another retarded looking, dented quarter panel, honda like, 240 on the road.

to anyone in the San Diego area... I have rolled fenders plenty of times, with and without roller.
If anyone has a roller Ill roll your fenders if you help and let me use em to do mine. I have a blowtorch, it works great. Heatgun is better but takes way longer.
If you want me to roll your fenders without a roller ill do that as well. It just takes more time and you must help. use vise grips, blowtorch, towels and a 1 3/4" metal bar.
Let me know,

You know what sucks?
Doing a nice pull, no dent in the QP? HOORAY!
Go for a drive, get out - where the fuck did that dent come from?

hahaha, yup. thats happened to me twice.
Its just how it goes if you go extreme on the pull.
youve only got a certain amount of metal there. rolling/pulling just transforms its shape, its not going to actually create more material for which to tuck your wheel/tire under.
unfortunately.
heating it first will help stretch the metal more as keep from creating that dent.
good luck.
Knew I saw this somewhere. From ziptied...

Mine are pulled about 30mm+ and there is no warpage.
-Extend coilovers
-Place jack under rear balljoint
-Place fender roller on hub
-As you roll the fenders jack the whole assembly up so as to push the fender up and out instead of just out.
The last part is crucial. If done correctly you can get away with not having any rear dents.
__________________________________________
He's right, it helps to seperate the two layers..that tugging of the inner layer by bring out the outer is what creates the dent. If you heat it up like that or are able to break the tack welds between the layers then you will have zero dentage. Did the same thing on my Z before I had the over fenders since the fenders on the Z are the same type as the S13's with the way it's constructed.

You dumb shits. Who the fuck uses newspaper to roll? hahaha. You got to be kidding me. So funny someone mentions using newspaper for body work then all of a sudden people go tossing it around like they know what they are talking about.
The PROPPER way to do it is:
All work is done with a Eastwood fender roller.
1. Clean out the fender and lip that will be rolled.
2. Make sure you don't need to extend the coilover/disconnect it from the shock if your car is too low.
3*. Place blue painters tape around the area that will be rolled.
4. Heat the area that will be rolled to 120f~
5. With a Decent amount of angle in the roller head start slowly applying pressure to the lip so it can start to be pushed it.
6. Once the lip is up, straighten out the head.
7. Slowly start rolling from left to right, and adjust the roller in 1/4 incraments. If you roll too fast, you might buckle the area around your roll.
8. Once finished, find a way to measure the angle of the roller.
9. Repeat on other side to the same angle of the other side and remove the painters tape.
10. Fuck bitches.
*Though I say to use painters tape while heating it to 120, I haven't yet tried that method. It should work and help control damage to the paint as well as indicate if you are heating any particular area up too much if you lack a temp gun.
BONUS!!!
Since everyone is in SO much need to use the newspaper shit, what you are supposed to do is already have your fenders rolled.
1. With the rear off the ground, disconnect the rear shock.
2. Place 1/4in of playboy, tranny's weekly, newspaper, whatever you have, all around the top of the tire.
3. Jack the wheel up with the disconnected shock.
4. Lower jack and check for clearance.
5. Add more newspaper if fit made isn't desired.
6. Do same on other side.
7. Finish up and paypal me money.
8. Proceed to fuck more bitches.

^^^^^prexactly
Back in the day I use to use a baseball bat but fender rollers are cheaper and easier to come by nowadays. If you WANTED to go cheap you're going to have some rippled fender edges, which if bad enough looks like shit.

the newspaper wasnt for rolling... the idea behind that was to place newspaper on top of you wheel and lower the vehicle slowly....the newspaper would act as a barrier and allow the fender to slide over the wheel...so what ive read on a japanese website... just wondered if anyone has actually tried

Yeah you can use cardboard too
But keep in mind that its METAL, so paper or cardboard isn't going to necessarily do much, unless the roll is already started, or you are putting a gang of paper

You get the dent from pulling, not rolling the fenders.
